Thanks Chris and Lindylou, I was made up with that photo, no playing with the settings or photoshopping afterwards, that's just the way it came out

Went down to the airport a couple of weeks ago one night just to see what was landing and to sit off in the car. The approach road has all been cordened off and 'the mound' where everyone used to park up has now been taken away too. What was once an enjoyable experience when Concorde came in (you had to literally book your spot with the car) is now turning in to something which you cannot get close to any more - a real shame.

The mound's gone , that's a shame. The last time I went there, about 3 months ago, they'd cleared all the scrub from around the runway approach lights. I'd always thought that planes coming in or taking off at the mound end were sitting ducks for any terrorist activity. If the taking away of the mound was because of this they've made a mistake as it can only be detrimental to security. Any one of those plane enthusiasts that sat there for hours on end acted like unpaid security guards for the airport as they'd report anything untoward.

Exactly! Plus there are so many places that you could 'take out a plane' along the flight path of Hale/Speke that I don't think it's been done just for that - a shame though.

    Hi Jonny

A number of your attachments aren't working as I get the message "Invalid Attachment specified." Might I suggest you use Flickr or some other photo hosting service as a number of us do. It is free and very worthwhile... then you can post your pics full size.

Cheers, this is the section for Liverpool Past. I'll move it to The appropriate place.
