    £4m lottery cash saves Florrie

MILLIONS of pounds of lottery cash were today awarded to a building at the heart of the ECHO’s Stop the Rot campaign.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has agreed a £3.9m grant to help regenerate the Florence Institute in Dingle.

It will house a 300-seater auditorium, gym, cafe, crèche, social enterprises, library and heritage resource centre, and the observatory will be restored.

The country’s oldest surviving purpose-built youth club will now be converted into a community facility.

It was a stunning building in its heyday so I hope they do a good job returning it to its former glory, here's the "Friends of the Florrie" website.

My Da used to live not a 100 yards from the Florrie and not a million miles from the 'Holy Land' either. I reckon he'll be made up with this news.

There's a 'Holy land' in Anfield too .. no not LFC (only joking ! I'm not a footy fan) .. there's Abbey, Cathedral, Chapel, Monastery, Bishop, Canon, Vicar, Rector, Curate roads.
Someone once told me that they called it 'The Holy City' 'cos it's got Cathedral.

I hope there's enough money to build a new roof.
The building has been open to the elements for far too long.

    Cool Florrie

    Does anyone have

any links or contacts for the people directly involved in the restoration of the Florrie?

"It will house a 300-seater auditorium, gym, cafe, crèche,

social enterprises, library and heritage resource centre" - This is exactly the kind of project I have been wanting to be involved in.
