    Default Raindrops on Leaves (CTG)

    Raindrops on Leaves

On the parking lot behind my mother's nursing home,
former home of a workman's tools baron, arched over
by state champion trees, overnight rain beads fallen
leaves. I am readying a cache of jewellery to hock,
boxes of books to offload, to pay the mounded bills.

When Thanksgiving and Christmas come, as they must,
will mother know it? The stapled construction paper
marked with the day and month and the day's weather,
patients snapped gayly arrayed in hoky straw hats.
Raindrops jewel the fallen leaves on damp asphalt.

Such prettiness in simple things. The raindrops on those leaves do look like diamonds.

Tis sad to think that people sit with little straw hats and paper calendars to be kept happy till they know no more.. As your thoughts and pictures protray to me..,:

Fallen leaves..never to be revived again..Even though the raindrops try and nourish them.. Life is a cycle, and all things come to an end. Keep the beauty in memories you cherish.. For the people and families of nursing homes.. Remember.. If a smile depicts a joy..then, that is priceless..

Bless your mum and family Chris...
