Max, you wanna go down Oakfield Avenue off Cookoo Lane - the houses there are MASSIVE!!! The first three on the right used to be owned by a single family!

Aye - get to the roundabout on Woolton Road/Gateacre Brow (heading away from Woolton)...carry on up the road and take your next right in to Cookoo Lane then take your 1st right in to Oakfield Ave...and stop and look

Childwall Priory Farm - demolished in the 1930's.

Stood where Rudston Road is now just behind the 5ways.

The entrance to it is in Mossley Hill but the house itself is in Aigburth. Locally it's seen as being in 'Aigburth'.

'Aigburth' is the new 'Toxteth Park' - its borders shift with the whims of whoever is describing them

Not at all. The boundaries of Aigburth are totally clear. Both Sudley House and entrance are in Aigburth. It's Mossley Hill that has no defined boundaries. I would say that Sudley house is in the Aigburth part of Mossley Hill. A useful reference is the booklet by E H Smith on Mossley Hill published in 1995

    Here we go again!

I agree with you about Sudley House. Locally, Mossley Hill Road is seen as the dividing line between Aigburth and Mossley Hill. In my mind (just imagine facing Mossley Hill church) the left side (the Sudley House side) is in Aigburth and the right side (Holts fields) is in Mossley Hill. People from outside the area often conflate Mossley Hill and Aigburth (perhaps because the railway station used to be called Mossley Hill for Aigburth?). I like the idea of the Aigburth part of Mossley Hill.

It seems that LCC is busy defining (redefining/inventing even) districts within the city. The boundaries of Aigburth in particular need to be redefined to fit in with modern usage. This would mean having the sign for Aigburth at the beginning of Aigburth Road. It always amuses me that more people live in a place they and the local media (and especially estate agents) call Aigburth that actually is not Aigburth than live in Aigburth proper.

Speaking as a resident of Aigburth proper, I would welcome the extension of our borders to Dingle Vale. I would not be adverse to annexing Mossley Hill and whilst we're at it we'll take Cressington and Grassendale from Garston.

Greater Aigburth. I can feel a website coming on

Sorry, by the beginning of Aigburth Road I mean the Ullet Road/Dingle Lane end.

Haven't the City council already annexed Aigburth into Mossley Hill in that they've renamed the Aigburth council Ward " Mossley Hill"

Mossley Hill rules OK it seems
