    A collage of memorials in St John`s Gardens today,the one in the bottom right corner was hand made,I watched has a lone figure pushed it into the ground,saluted then left

    Yes, it served as a steam/smoke escape chimney for the underground tunnel. There are a number of them dotted down the lines from Edge Hill for the Waterloo and Wapping tunnels - down to the docks.

    Me too, with the camera pointing the wrong way and just getting a big eye.
