    Hi Spike

the queen mary 2 will be in liverpool on tuesday the 20th of october.. from about 11am to 11pm.

mersey ferries are doing tours of the queen mary most of the day (guessing just an upclose 'sail by' as part of normal ferry trips) but there is one special 'cruise' @ 9.45-11.05am that will have a official blue coat tour guide onboard. it's for ?8 so pretty cheap for a two hour trip.

    http://www.merseyferries.co.uk/special/index.aspx

currently doing a tour to celebrate cunards 170th birthday.

it sounds like, the ferry will travel up the mersey and meet 'her' coming in, following the ship to the dock. i think the report said there would be a firework display before 'she' sets sail late tuesday night.

so, even if you can't get time away from work etc. you could still go later on in the evening and watch the fireworks..

i remember as a kid watching the QE2 in the mersey (guessing mid 90's) no fireworks but it did play 'ferry cross the mersey' at full volume.

so if anyones around the mersey area with time on their hands it might be worth a look.. just thought you would all like to know

    Cheers Malc

I saw her in Gibraltar a few years ago. We went on a boat close up to her as the airforce did a flyover. very impressive.

Never knew she was coming in here, will pop along that day.

I'm with spike, any pics ??

hope you enjoy the day spike, i love going to things like this, but i always find out the day after or on the day when it's too late to get there

is there a thread on here where you can post upcoming events ? i haven't seen one, will have a look now (i'm a lazy git). if not, maybe we should get one started, so many events go on around the area all year and not many are advertised which is a shame, alot of them are word of mouth or you have to be looking in the right place at the right time

    Hey All,

Queen Mary 2 is due in at 11.00 and due to leave at 23:00. There is supposed to be a fireworks display going on as well from 22:50 to see the ship off.

I went to Seacombe last night to watch her leaving and to take some pics, this is one of my favourites.

I could not believe how many people were there, the place was packed.
