The security is good in the park. Of a night they lock the gates to the Palm house and there's 24hr cctv as well as "parkies".
The childrens play area is always busy as is most of the park. They've done a good job. However, they could of planted some trees and shrubs to encourage wildlife. It's too neat!!

Another nice green park falling victim to football They should put football stadia on the outskirts of cities NOT in the middle of them
"If you want something doing, ask a man. If you want something done correctly, ask a woman"
Kat, or on brownfield sites. The prime point of stadia is that there must be a rapid-transit rail station under or adjacent to the stadium. A station that can shift 30-40,000 per hour minimum. The fans can then go straight in and out of the stadium. The impact of the stadium is lessened considerably. Less cars on the roads with lower pollution levels. Less jams. Less parking problems. Residents are not effected so much. Liverpool has Merseyrail and it is being ignored by both Everton and Liverpool. Only in Liverpool.

Don't turn this into another stadia thread .
Liverpool's stadium is very unlikely to happen for a good few years now, if it ever does, so things will probably change big time especially if Tescoton or Teversco don't build theirs in Kirkby.
The park looks great

How can you avoid turning the Park thread into a stadium thread ?
Anyway, we lose over a third of the original park in the proposal. Hope it never happens.
If you have known the park for a long time, you will also know what structures and facilities are now missing. The bowling greens, the seating areas around the greens, the floral clock, the seating in the pavilions, the Conservatory.
I say conservatory, because it's not for general use.It is very nice, until you see it has been built as a drinking venue, or a club.First thing that rings the alarm bells is the BAR. Call it what you like, it aint no conservatory. It's for private hire only !!! But it must be ok, as LFC have booked it up, for a good few weeks, apparently. How many are from Liverpool again ??
It is for private functions only. The coffee shop is open for the public, but it's just a bland box.
I just hate the way Stanley park is now at the mercy of a half wit football industry, who have no regard for anyone but themselves. The mighty LFC, own this park. Not the people.
Never heared anyone in support of a stadium ! So how did it get approval.
The usual manner, i imagine.
Wot no palms?
Went around Stanley Park today, they have done a very good job of refurbishing it, except for not reinstating the bowling greens. The Palm House is now named the Isla Gladstone Concervatory

The Park has to reflect the people who use it. Bowling is no longer a popular British past time so there is no demand for bowling greens in public parks.
Some areas still have a strong bowling community and those parks will have well kept greens. It's all an issue of demand/supply.
