    Default Stanley Park

Had a walk around the newly refurbished Stanley park, and was amazed by the work that's been done! The conservatory looks fantastic,as well as the terrace, and various smaller structures! I used to play here,as a kid,and have fond memories of the paddling pool, the floral (cuckoo?) clock, and of course, the rowing boats, all of which, unfortunately,no longer exist! But,no matter, I just hope now, that there is some effort now,by the council,to keep it in it's present condition! ( I did take more pic's,but it was quite overcast, and they came out a bit dark!)

To think Liverpool FC are being allowed to build a stadium on the park, when Walton Hall Park is a far better site and a disused Merseyrail line is there waiting to serve the stadium and the surrounding districts.

It's looking great!!! I'm in the South end so Sefton Park is my usual park but I do wish that the whole of Liverpool could have had a vote with regard to the application to build a stadium.

Still, great snaps makes me want to go there this weekend, may do that!

    Thanks Lindy,
    I saw a woman,with a dog and camera,sitting on one of the benches,and I thought......is that a Yo'er,as I know you live around that area!

Well, your guess is as good as mine, but there are now lots of railings, around,(with spikes...oooh!) and though these wont keep out your more determined vandal,it will cut down on casual stuff, which is where it usually starts!

    Hi LL,
I'd normally think of Sefton park as being "better",but after walking around Stanley park,my view is now quite different! It's got 3 lakes, with 6/7 bridges, and the terraced area is unique(unless someone knows different!) with views of ? hills in the distance, you could quite easily think you were somewhere else! I'd recommend a visit!

It's funny, everytime I see someone taking a photo around L'pool I wonder if they are a forum member.

I'm usually never with out my camera or my dog
I've walked the length and bredth of Anfield for years with my dogs - everyone knows me as always with a dog, but recently havn't made the effort to walk through the park. Our dog is getting too old and has developed a health problem and can't go much further than the end of road now .. but that's another story I'm very sad about.

The view from the top path along by the terrace is great on a nice clear day. I think it's looking over towards Parbold way and as far as Winter Hill.
Hope they keep the vandals out of Stanley Park and it continues looking smart.

Does the park have a floral clock like yesteryear ,are there swings and seesaws for the children? It would be too much to expect a Lido ,but from the pictures shown here it looks marvellous. Will there a 'Parky' to keep an eye on things because it would be criminal to let the park fall into decay as before.
Will there be boats, I only went on them a few times (when my uncle Bill took me) I'd love to come up on a sunny day and see the park in all its glory.
And ,finally, how much of the Park will the stadium destroy ?

    Hi Brian,
as I said in my 1st post,no floral clock,no paddling pool, and no boats! But there is a good play area, and there was plenty of activity on the big field, with footy training, kite flying, etc As for the stadium,as much as I know, will be at the back of the park, where the sportscentre was!
