I am trying to trace John William Turner - Jack - think he was born around 1905-1910.
I have my fathers birth certificate, he was born Vernon 12/10/1934.
Subdistrict of Toxteth Partk in the County Borough of Liverpool.
Father - John Wiliam Turner - Tympanist (Dance Orchestra)
Mother - Gladys Margaret Jones nee Cox.
17 Hatherley Street.
All my father knows is that John Turner was a drummer - tympanist in a band which played on passenger liners.
He believes at some stage he was involved with the Billy Cotton Band.
He also thinks he was involved in boxing. He may of been on the Queen Mary with Tommy Farr who was a british pre war heavy weight champion. Or could of been in the band on the Queen Mary.
The only other thing is he thinks John Turner may have been in the Police Force in Liverpool.
My father and grandmother were back in Margate in 1939. Not sure when they went back.
No idea what happened to John Turner. My grandmothers letters from him were destroyed in a house fire.
Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated as this is like a needle in a haystack to me.

many thanks
