Growing up in the Tennies in Garston, facing the old Bryant & May Matchworks. The long trek down the 'cindie' path to get down to King Street and the docks. The old disused and derelict metal works factory alongside the bridge going into Garston itself.

Many's a day was had playing in there and coming home with pyrite (fool's gold) thinking we were rich and handing it over to Ray who owned the Green Grocers' shop on Vineyard Street and him handing us an apple, an orange, banana or pear or, if we were lucky a tanner! Wasn't til I grew up that I found out Ray was paying us for something that was worthless - God knows what he did with it?? - but to us, it was TREASURE!

Those were the days!!!
