    Default The Mersey Tunnel Tour

    It was interesting.
    Plenty walking.
Me,Ted and my nephew Huseyin attended.
I call this is a Educational Tour.

    ?5 per person.

Tour is with max 14 people and guided.

Once a time they worked very hard to build.

Today some people only wonder and climb fresh air hole for tunnel.

Return journey to Wirral for us from James St Station

You are allowed to take photos under tunnel as well but my photos were rubbish..It was too dark and my dslr didn't work properly.

Tour took around 2 hours. including 20 minutes video show at start of tour.

Offical booklet can be found at

    Thank you all.
I really enjoyed this journey, but in the tunnel was cold and I advise those who intend to visit the tunnel to dress warmly.

me and my mums uncle want to do this tour, but i know that he will never be able to manage walking up and down all those steps.
a real shame, but one day i'll do it (i hope) another fear to deal with, first the heights with the cathedral tower and soon the cramped enclosed spaces of the tunnels.

    Don't dream it ... be it !

I seem to remember either reading or hearing of a story about a vehicle (Morris pickup comes to mind) that ran under the tunnel for use by maintenance gangs, and that in later years when a (gas?) pipe was run through, the suspension on this vehicle was jacked up to straddle it.
Or was it in one of my dreams.
