Nice photo, Joe. Here's my pic of the same, taken when I was in Liverpool in May 2007.

Per Joseph Sharples in the Pevsner Architectural Guides series on Liverpool, p. 154, the building is the former Venice Chambers built in 1882 by Edmund Kirby, with architectural details mimicking the Doge's Palace in Venice.

    Hi Chris,
wasn't this building home,or near to, some historic 19th century club/association,at one time?

Hello guys , where was this building in Lord Street? As the more I get into this site , the more I realise that my memory of Liverpool is getting less and less, maybe I have been away far too long. I will be over in June for 10 /12 weeks so I will be in Liverpool a lot more , hopefully to catch a few concerts, and maybe meet up with a few of the guys who were in bands when I was in in the 60s I have so much to catch up on(been in Aus far to long)
Cheers Keith ( just turned 67) I am 3 months older than Paul Mcartney!!

Just going through some old threads and came across these photos again. They are great shots of a lovely and unique building. Well worth a second look.

Walking through any city centre very few people look up above the shop frontages. A shame because there's often wonderful architectural features to see - yet people pass them by unaware.

Funny, cos I never knew this building existed until I saw these photos. I'm always looking up now.

Don't find any money in the street no more though. Oh, and I keep falling down holes.

Put a set of reins on your grandson. Make him walk ahead to discover the holes!

Already do that, but when he falls down the holes, he generally pulls me down with him. I've now learned that when he falls, just let the reins go. His screams usually alert me to the danger and I manage to avoid it.

I would urge anyone to take a look up at the buildings on Dale St, Castle St and Victoria St in particular - a nice little circular walk.

Hi wsteve55. Not sure about historic clubs etc...but Lord Molyneux's house was on Lord St. presumably his town house after the castle was demolished. I've had a look on some of the maps, but doesn't seem to be recorded. Looking at the slope of the street, it could be on the north side [Doran's Lane side]?
