    Default Garston History Exhibition info

The exhibition is at Island Rd Methodist Church. 10 am to 4 pm Sat and Sunday ( 50p entrance). The Society has some excellent publications for sale. I'd recommend " Garston's Industries Part 1" pub June 2001 at £2.50. It has a write up about the bottle works and other industries. Also a reprint of " The Story of Garston and its Church" by Rev J M Swift originally published mid 1930s but with lots of info about Garston including its industries. I think it costs about £12. These and others should be on sale at the weekend

If you have any old Garston photos, please bring them along and the society will be able to scan them on the day for possible inclusion in new book.

I was sorry to have missed this (very busy weekend) - when is the next exhibition? I have got the Swift book - really interesting. We were thinking of asking the Society to do a small exhibition about Garston CE school at the School open night on 28 June - I know they have lots of material and they have let us exhibit some before.

    Default Garston

Unsure if there will be another one, I will try and find out.

They are after photos for possible inclusion into their next book, which I think is going to be called Garston revisited.

I don't think so was Standards what became British Leyland by Dista?

My Dad worked at the bottleworks until it closed, you could always tell if you went into someones house they either worked or knew someone who worked there they had either green or clear glass swan ashtrays.
I met Mike Axworthy and I think it was Mike Gallagher at the event on Sunday, nice friendly garston guys and we were talking and laughing about these ashtrays, these were produced on the night shift and then passed about.
Most of our family had them, in fact there could be some still around.
