Default Photographs Of Old Liverpool UK

    Allo,

I found a file on one of them lovely download websites which contained these pics. I dunno where they're from or who they belong to but thought they may interest everyone here. So I thought I'd put them on my webspace to allow easy viewing

    http://www.watcha.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

If they're copyrighted by someone or I shouldn't be showing them, can someone let me know and I'll get rid of them but till then, enjoy

    Brilliant.

They look like Liverpool Record Office photos to me.

I love the Rat Catchers (no. 255)

Seen a good few of those pictures before - certainly a Record Office jobbie somewhere. But not seen LOTS of those pictures and just lost a good hour going through them as it is a cracking find!!!

    Cheers

They're great those Scouse Smurf, me being on the slow side it took me nearer 2 hours to get through them. I agree about the rat-catchers Ginger, also liked the WW1 lady road sweepers (bet they did a better job).

Defo LRO. Seen many before. Great, keep them there. The pictures are public domain.

This is a great collection of photos. I have certainly seen many of them previously in the LRO / City Engineers Collection. Others have appeared in various publications but lots were quite new to me and were good to see.

    John,

The pictures are not public domain. - copyright will belong either to Liverpool Record Office or Liverpool City Council.

Over 60 years old is anyones. There was a big thing when Elvis Presley's records were over 50 years old, as they would be royalties free and music publishing companies would not make money out of them.

    There is a time limit.

As far as LRO, they allow you to copy as long as you do not make money from them. The city wants the records to be known and seen. Why did they take photos in the first place?

Clicking on their online archive (if indeed any of these ones are there) will tell you if they're out of copyright or not though I suspect John may have meant in public domain as in a lot are in books and have been published before.

Once again, if any are posted here its good practice to credit the source.

For example: Courtesy of Liverpool Records Office etc.

Many thanks, Scouse Smurf, for telling us about those pics - like others have said some photos are familiar but there are loads that I haven't seen before.A very useful post on your part, much appreciated.
