I love those old shop adverts, Gnomie.

Does anyone know where this is?
It was posted by 4737carlin on flickr, and he can't remember, but thinks it's Newsham Park/Green Lane area.

I think it may be on the side of Atkinson's Bakery which is on the corner of Green Lane/Russian Drive. Business is still listed as being Atkinson's Homestead Bakery.

    Thanks MarkA.
The 1936 directory doesn't list Homestead, but Atkinson's Bakery is listed on that corner, so I'll check it out.
I like to take a photo of the whole building as well.

Whilst you're there, try the BBQ beef on a crusty barm. Given the choice of a McDonalds or a BBQ beef from Atkinson's, my 2 kids choose Atkinson's every time.

Gnomie, did you see the small courtyard behind the building? Its entrance is on Russian Drive at the end of those cottages that are in your picture. Looked to me like there used to be stables there at some time.

    Is this another wheatsheaf?

    Thanks for the picture, Gnomie.

    In 1936, 1 Green Lane was a plumber's yard.

I'm suprised that #1 Green Lane would be that far down though Phil.

Am I on the right side?
I'll scan Green Lane for you if you want.
    No trouble.
