Default Please object to this development

Below: The bottom photo shows the uninspiring "anytown" building totally straddling the old lock entrance to Toxteth Dock from Brunswick Dock, preventing any excavation to re-introduce attractive water space for future developments.

This developments will be built across Brunswick Business Park where Toxteth Dock meets Brunswick Dock. This uninspiring building is of no maritime theme whatsoever, is to be built across the old in-filled dock waters.

If this building is built, the old docks cannot be excavated again to re-instate the waters running south. In short, this will prevent any further advancement to create an Amsterdam of the Liverpool Dock waterways.

    1. The Brunswick Business Park is past its sell by date and the area clearly should be redeveloped into a water based leisure/residential use, like all the developments around the park.
    2. The "anytown" building is of no architectural merit.
    3. There is enough space on the land side of the Dock Road to accommodate this restricting building.
    4. There has been suggestions of re-locating the small businesses in the business park to more suitable locations and developing the the area for leisure & residential use, which is by far the the best approach forward for this area.
    5. Residential homes around the old dock waters is clearly the most attractive way forward.
    6. Maro, the developers of the rejected Brunswick Quay Tower were talking of extending the water south back into Toxteth Dock by partial excavation.
    7. The business park is totally surrounded by residential homes and is now clearly out of place with large trucks constantly entering the area.
    8. The business park should be relocated as it is now a nuisance and acts as a disincentive for developers to revitalise the area which has massive potential.
    9. Constructing a building that clearly limits the potential residential/leisure development of the area is a retrograde step and must be stopped at all costs.

The Council should clearly produce along term plans for the area to clear all these matters up and prevent these sorts of proposals being submitted.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

You have to agree with much of what you say but to be successful, you need to object in planning policy terms ie. you need to find out where the proposals contravene written local planning policy and/or local or central government planning guidance.

What is the period for objections?

Just an objection for now is all that is needed - the more the better. Just this one buildings stops any advancement of waters in the area. It is vital it is not built. Otherwise we will end up with sterile buildings all over that complex. Who wants Herculaneum Dock types of flats?

We have the chance of making something special of this city and this building is not the way to do it.

If we all object we all gain.

Done, sick of the council bowing down to short sighted developments, at the expense of the cultural and architectural treasures of this fine city, e.g. the recent demolishion of Joesephine Butler House off Hope Street to builf some Yuppie Bar which will no doubt be one of those generic modern buildings which all to often replace superior historic buildings around here.

    Default Well said Adhiggins

Agree with Ad. Will also object. I think its Ugly and Uninspiring. May I add Unacceptable. I like old and new building IF they have something about them that is practical and aesthetically pleasing. This is just...............nothingness in concrete.

Exactly, look at the New Royal, admittedly a new building was needed, but we go from the beautiful Victorian infimary, to the current monument to sovietesque pragmatism that we have blighting the skyline at the moment. I CANNOT WAIT for it to come down...literally ANYTHING would be more aesthetically pleasing than that lump of rotten concrete

    Rant over... sorry
