I can remember the "missing piece" vividly , it was like the inlays that one saw on the ancient Greek and Roman temples. It just disappeared, one week it was there and the next it was gone. When I visited St.Georges Hall last year I asked about it and the guides had not got an idea of what had happened to it. It would be great to sse that empty pediment filled once again.

Fairly recently,
There was a photo, probably in the "Echo", of a full size fibreglass moulding, of the frieze! I thought that would look better than it does now, with nothing, and until a real reproduction(?) can be made! It's sad that Liverpool neglected so much of it's past, but I suppose that's easy to say now!
A tour guide mentioned to me that it had something to do with the slave trade so was politically incorrect and that's why nothing was done with it.
I remember asking a few months ago if anyone had a picture of the original and I noticed the other day I had a photo of my wall with it on !!!
Sorry if it's not too clear and also if there's any copyright problems with me posting it

I've always thought that it looked blank without the Frieze and I was disappointed after the refurbishment that it hadn't been replaced.
I had also asked a couple of years ago about whether they were going to replace it but no one knew anything about it back then. Later on during a tour of the Conservation Centre when I saw them working on something similar I asked them as well but they didn't know anything either.
Hopefully this is good news that finally something might be done to replace it.
