Everton Beacon occupied a site close to where St. George's Church resides today, until it was 'felled' in a storm in 1803, according to Robert Syer's account in his book, The history of Everton, including familiar dissertations.

I recently came across an old map of Everton dated 1790, which shows the beacon. This is my attempt to try and fix its position on a later map which includes St George's Church. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to be beneath the church, but to one side of it. This got me wondering about its foundations. Perhaps they're still there within the churchyard? If Time Team were still broadcasting, it would've made an interesting three day project for them.
