A large number of the old sett layers will be set in the ground already.

have you become sett in your ways, or is it just cobble(r)s?

That's true,(just using common vernacular!) but I don't think you use cement/mortar to set them? The skilled setter's have probably already gone,as it was some time ago, when they did this, and even to my untrained eye, they didn't look right then!

Good pics, Lindy. Thanks for sharing them with us. Not cobbles of course but mosaic, carrying on the tradition of mosaic floors found in ancient times, in Roman villas in England, and by Italian immigrant craftsmen in Liverpool shops and other establishments.

    All the best

Very good that. However, when you think of how the Italians used to do the mosiacs..now that was skill.

That reminds me, 'sett' streets that were thorough fares, e.g. burlington street had flage stones laid like tram lines so as the wheels of horse drawn wagons would be less liable to damage. And easier to haul I assume.

If a man speaks in the forest and no woman hears him, is he still wrong ?

Greek Street, the new build on the corner is called Windsor Court,I presume after the pub which stood
    there.
