    Waste plant plans are withdrawn
A planning application for a waste recycling plant in Liverpool has been withdrawn.

Jack Allen Holdings planned to build a state-of-the-art waste recovery facility near Garston Docks.

But a number of people objected to the plans to process 300,000 tonnes of waste a year go through the site.

A spokesman for the company said it would carry out a more in-depth consultation with local residents and re-submit the plans in the new year.

Peter Coe from the company said: "Our proposals are for a clean, green technology and we need to get that message across to reassure people.

"We want to contribute positively to the regeneration of Garston and are already working with local organisations to maximise the economic and employment benefits to local people."

He added: "We want to be a good neighbour and that is why we want to get this application right.

"If by spending more time talking to local people and organisations we can improve this proposal, then that is what we will do."

Default Jack Allen Holdings Waste Treatment centre

Hi, I have heard that Jack Allen Holdings have re-submitted the plans for the Waste Treatment Centre. We must act yet again to stop this arrogant man from making Garston and Cressington a dumping ground.

If he did not you have a strong case against him. If he did your case will not be so strong.

    Good luck with the cause.

Revised plans have been submitted for a waste recycling plant in Merseyside following concerns by nearby residents over its size.

Jack Allen Holdings, the company behind the Garston Resource Recovery Facility, said it had halved the proposed size of the facility.

The site will deal with 150,000 tonnes of waste per year, with eight vehicles per hour moving in and out of the area.

Liverpool City Councillors will consider the new plans.

    'Public exhibitions'

The proposed plant will be able to deal with domestic or similar commercial waste from hotels, offices and restaurants.

The height of the building has been reduced to 15m and the fibre product from the recycling process, originally destined for anaerobic digestion tanks at the rear of the site, will be treated off-site, mainly transported by either boat or rail.

Peter Coe, spokesman for Jack Allen Holdings, said: "We held three well-attended public exhibitions in Garston as well as meetings with community groups and local businesses.

"Many expressed support for the sustainable approach that we are proposing and others specifically backed the use of non-incineration technology to deal with and manage our waste.

"We have worked very hard to refine our application to address concerns raised."

Well Iam sure my sister in law will act in Garstons best interest.
Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea.
