and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Was great to take a trip into town on the old backloaders. Won't bore everyone with the scores of pics I took...so here's just a few

and remember when the seats looked like this

Wirral is holding a similar event this Sunday (5th Oct 08)

I think it will be down at Birkenhead Park again...or in Taylor Street.

Some good ol' Wallasey Cream and Birkenhead Blue's will be out!

I and am sure many others had a great day. Myself & friends started at Old Roan at 9.00 am with a run on the old 59 route. we had worked out a timetable to travel on as many buses as possible. But the run on the old Ribble 57 route put paid to that, after the driver got lost! We ended the day with the open top bus from South parkway to Pier head, great fun. Well done to the Merseyside transport trust.
These things take time, Rome wasn't built in a day you know.

    Default Trollybus

What ever happend to the old trollybus surly in this day and age it must be the best mode of public transport around, to me it seems to tick all the plusses. Unlike the modern day bus it dosnt belt out toxic gases and is less noisy. Unlike the tram it dosent need lines to run on and is manuverable in traffic. The County Councils should realise by now that the deregulation of public transport dosnt work and this mode of transport if taken over by the councils would be more cost effective.

The trollybus was half hearted attempt to keep trams going. It never worked. They were not used in Liverpool - I believe.

In Liverpool's case the prime mode of rapid transport is/should be in order:

    • Merseyrail underground, extended to overground - masses of unused infrastructure waiting. Benefits to regeneration are enormous.

    • Eco Hybrid/electric tram-like bendy buses to serve districts from Merseyrail stations (local transport hubs)

    • Monorail inside the centre and into the north and South Docks

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

    Default MTT Running Day

    Greetings!
Had a great day driving L501, needed a bit more skill than driving the modern cr4p I'm used to! Can't wait for 2009, I'm going to see if they will let me loose on the Bristol RE 2025.

Great pictures quincyg. Still waiting to see the one you took Gnasher!

    Regards. Gordon
