    Default Esther McVey

Esther McVey was educated at Belvedere School Liverpool before going to Queen Mary and Westfield University London to study law.

Throughout her life she has worked in her family's construction business and is a director of JG McVey and Co Ltd, which is based in Liverpool but covering the North West.

After graduating in law Esther did a post graduate radio journalism course before deciding to embark on a career in the media.

Esther's media career saw her working on a whole range of programmes as reporter, presenter and producer. Anchoring such shows as: BBC1's science/discovery show 'How Do They Do That', Channel 4's legal series along with Ann Widdecombe 'Nothing But the Truth' ITV's news debate series 'Friday Night Live', GMTV, BBC1's Sunday Show 'The Heaven and Earth' and the award winning youth current affairs show 'Reportage'

Esther then went on to set up her own media training corporate coaching company 'Making It (UK) Ltd' based on Merseyside.

Esther's main political interests are crime, transport, health and quality of Life.
Quality of Life may be a well worn phrase but that's exactly what this labour government with it's stealth taxes, needless red tape and it's blind adherence to targets and initiatives is rapidly reducing. Pensions are in crisis, education is a shambles and transport is at a standstill. In fact the only thing on the move is crime upwards and savings downwards and yet the only positive movement would be labour outwards!

Esther is patron of Wirral Holistic Therapeutic Cancer Care as well as patron of Full of Life a charity for disabled children and their families. She's an ambassador for Action Medical Research a charity that funds medical research. As well as being on the board of Obsidian College and an active member of NCH, hosting their 2003 Merseyside and Cheshire Young Achievers Award on the 4th Nov.

At present she's on the women's board of Vote 2004, campaigning for a referendum on the European Constitution as well as helping the Daily Mail with theirs.

Esther has also recently worked with the Daily Post on their Flight Path Campaign which aimed, successfully, to get a flight path between London and Liverpool primarily to boost the overall economy for the Merseyside area which obviously includes Wirral West.

Esther spends her spare time (what little she has) going to the theatre and cinema but has promised herself in the New Year she will join the gym!

She's got the most irritating voice I've ever heard.
