Exclamation Hatton Garden and Great Crosshall Street

A NEW £10m city centre residential and commercial development has been approved by planners.

The striking 11-storey scheme, which includes underground car parking, will rise from the corner of Hatton Garden and Great Crosshall Street.

Chester-based Whinmoor Estates is behind the scheme, which was designed by Liverpool architects Falconer Chester Hall.

Managing director Adam Hall said: “We are very excited about this.

“We were granted planning permission for a mixed use residential and retail or commercial scheme with car parking.”

He said the plan is to create 116 apartments, mainly two-bedroom properties of mid to high-end quality.

The ground floor will comprise residential or commercial tenants,

Mr Hall said lock-up units currently occupy the plot but they will be cleared for the new scheme.

He said: “It is a good location for everything else going on.”

No date has been set for work to start on site.

    More apartments empty.

At least these seem to be two bedroomed ones. Far too many one bedroomed flats available, mind loads of two available all over.

    Better than empty lock-ups.

    What empty lock-ups?
This site has been vacant for years.

I know where he means. There are a few small units (one was our car alarm co.) on the stretch between Hatton Garden and Johnson Street, but yes, the area in general could do with something a bit more substantial on that site.
