Hi Koppat,
the registers for Liverpool are held at the Central library, though I'm not sure if it's open right now,due to all the building work going on! The phone no' is 225 3173.
Off the top of me 'ead,I'd suggest electoral registers for the period, but I'm not sure where they'd be held, exactly, but a phone call to the council might help!?
The "Florrie" is almost ready to open, according to the "Echo" tonight, and there's another thread on here, re'Lister drive library, which sounds promising!
It must have been fun climbing on the top of those carriages, look at the age of some of them! Great pic's Colin.
I just wonder how many drivers look at them and say "Yeh,I know, that's what red lights mean"! Do they serve any practical purpose? I got beeped, for stopping to study them!:unibrow:
Thanks all,for the input! I suppose a chimney, would be the logical assumption to make,of the structure, and not a church.!! It's just that the area has gone through so many changes!
I drive past these signs on Townsend lane, quite often, but The other day I actually wondered what they were for,as it seems daft warning drivers to stop at a red light....and there's 2 of them?????
Thanks for that Oudeis. Looks interesting, but it'll take a while to read through!
I was having a wander round, down by Canada dock, and noticed this"tower" in Brunswick place, which is just opposite! I've passed it many times, but on giving it some attention,I wondered what it was?
...
True....they only do it,and get away with it,due to the apathy,or ignorance of the electorate, and they certainly like to preserve that aspect of the status quo!!
Looks like a fair bit of T.L.C. is required, but a good addition to the collection!
I can see the reason for the terracing, but when you consider the steepness of the streets in Netherfield rd,etc? Is it just a different technique?
Good pic' Smurfy, but just when, is that going to fall down!? It'll be strange when it finally does!
Great pic's Joe! Always wondered about the terrace in front of those houses in Corn st.,and why they were built like that?
:unibrow:
Great pic's Ged! I remember when the church was still in use,in the early 70's,when I had a flat round the corner. Whatever you think of the remains of the building...at least it's survived, which in...
I suppose that's the problem really! If you are building to a competitive, agreed cost per unit,it opens up a whole ballgame, of potential failure of quality! Surely though, that's a...
It's a pet hate of mine,to see any building left to to deteriorate, and agree there should be some sort of legal timescale set for it's vacancy! One of the reasons that's been suggested to me for this...
I thought it's eventual fate.....demolition, had been decided a couple of years back? I've been patiently waiting!
Just wondered if anyone in authority, such as the council, museums, etc, know anything about these? I remember seeing the pic's on here, but has there been any further investigation?
Some nice pic's there Colin, but,as is often the case in Liverpool, one minute it's there.....then it's gone! The mosaic, near the entrance to the Mersey tunnel was one, which I think it ended up in...
Doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p
Thanks for that,Ged......looks like it's almost derelict then!
Just had me going for a bit!?:unibrow:
