The first 2 of the Trafalgar Dock windmills being erected
God! I suppose these things are a necessary evil but they sure are ugly!
My mates brother ships them out of Mostyn dock, there's a few bob in it. Theres a guy in America called Tom Wind who along with others works on a project that seeks to store surplus wind energy. The idea is that when the wind is blowing you push the air underground. Then when you need energy you bring the air back up in compression pipes to generate power. You might start seeing more on shore wind farms :unibrow:
That's like the name of the plumbing firm that advertises on the front of the Washington, D.C., yellow pages:
John C. Flood of DC, Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, Drain Cleaning. "The Original Flood." :handclap: :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

I quite like the look of Wind Turbines and having done a lot of hill-walking near them I find them quite mesmerising to watch. But I can see why some peeps don't like them, they are rather intrusive on the landscape.
I do agree that they are necessary. As Britain is one of the windiest countries in Europe and an island we would be foolish to not harness this power - especially offshore.
I did suggest jokingly once that they should all be re-moddeled to look like 17th Century Windmills - alarmingly lots of people agreed! Imagine how horrid a modern recreation windmill would look!

There are now 4 erected but not like the Gladstone wall all in a row, but at
random in different docks
...and the Mersey Barrage Scheme? Yes, rumoured to be operational by 2020, presuming planning permission is forthcoming in 2010.
It seems to me that the powers that be have been wittering on about tidal power since God's dog was a pup. I'm beginning to doubt that any of us will be alive to see it completed!
