When the owner of White City Stadium, a Mr. Shand, was waiting to get his operating licence back, he raced his dogs at the Stanley track. This would have been in the summer of 1944, and my first job as a kennel boy. For what it is worth.
A couple of links here for the Liverpool Chads speedway. The second has photo's of the riders but wthout any real depth of field for the background

There were athletic meetings held there too as a person that I used to work with told me about going to see the olympians of the day running there.
Just incase you didn't know why the Rugby Club was in Derby Lane, it was because it was the HQ of Liverpool Stanley RLFU.
Great info
I have the Speedway links ( sorry I should have posted them )
Never knew that about the Rugby Club on Derby Lane, makes sense though. Athletics too, it was a busy place.
Stanley Stadium Prescot Rd Liverpool. A pioneer track from the mid 50s, the stadium was home to greyhound racing, LIVERPOOL CHADS speedway team and also LIVERPOOL STANLEY Rugby team . It was located to the east of the railway line and south of Prescot Road on a site that's now a huge fruit and veg' wholesale market complex .

I think I have a pic of the White City Stadium and there is a book by Ray Physick called 'Played in Liverpool' featuring all Liverpool sports events/grounds etc.
Went to a football game there 1960/1/2 not sure now.I think it had something to do with Ron Springett the goal keeper.
Old Programme pic
Are we talking about the stadium in Church Rd, Old Swan, where Liverpool Stanley played rugby and
the Chads their speedway.Paid 3 pence to watch Stanley and bunked in to watch the Chads.
My lad has a history of Liverpool City which is a decent read. It gives the history of the rugby league club. The first club was founded in 1907 and soon folded. In 1922, Wigan Highfield were formed. They moved down to London as London Highfield in the 30s. First team to ever play under floodlights at the White City dog track. They then moved to Liverpool as Liverpool Stanley, then Liverpool City, Huyton, Runcorn Highfield at Canal Street, moved to St Helens as Highfield, then Prescot Panthers before finally going under.
My mum and dad used to watch The Chads along with their brothers and sisters.
