How disgusting is this ????
Check out the paper for the actual photo
How many photos do see of the Museum/ Walker Art Gallery/ Steble fountain that include the cobbles as well? All the ones that I can think of. Not any more.
'Health and Safety' has now taken over that timeheld principle which served our forefathers for hundreds of years: 'Common Sense'.
Thanks for the heads-up Smurfy.
Cobblers I say.
I used to walk this way to work every day................... now don't start yelling at me but I was always tripping and going over on my ankles on those cobbles. I never wear high heels or anything, it was because the cobbles were so uneven. This being the case the council may well have been sued so decided to put down tarmac, instead of coming up with something better. If they want to do fix something, they should get down to that road around Sefton Park - it's full of massive big potholes and really is a Health and Safety problem.
They never looked like they were (re)set properly,in the first place! Proper cobbles dont need cement,at least in the various streets I lived in,anyway!!

How many times have we seen this? Not to mention double yellow lines - couldn't they have thought of something else? Sadly, the cheapest, quick fix solution always seems to win the day.
I think some heads need knocking together with a couple of cobblestones.
hope the tarmac is replaced with something more in keeping with the area. and asap
I think the report says it's a temporary thing but there's no date arranged for replacing the tarmac.
I remember when they did up all the paving around williamson square, looked dead nice and it wasn't too long before there was tarmac patches in place of some of the recently new floor bricks.
Considering how strict the council had been for years about the height of building around the pier head then they should at least have a rule that road and paving work be filled with the same type of stones
Proper cobble setters would make such a mess of it. Pedestrians should walk on the pavement anyway unless of course just crossing them.
