Only one was sunk by a U-boat, the Lusitania.
The Britannic was sunk by a German mine, or more it was sunk because the crew against orders had the port holes open which allowed water in. If they were closed the ship would not have sunk. The bulkheads had been raised to E deck because of the Titanic sinking (sister ships), and were doing their job to an extent.
Another good one Reg,
Last year April 14 2008, the 96th anniversary of Titanic colliding with the Iceberg, I was on QE2 and we stopped directly above Titanic, We had a Service on deck and two wreaths were cast into the sea. It felt a little strange to be there on that date 96 years on.
Here is a photo of the Service and wreaths. It was blowing a strong wind and rain. Nearest iceberg was 25 miles away.
Lusitania I have been over many times and picked it up on the Depth recorder showing the bump on the flat ocean bed at 300 feet.
Reg ,that is a remarkable site,I thoroughly enjoyed it,thanks

When I was sailing in Tankers I did many Tanker Safety Courses, but I just couldnt get the hang of oil spills.
