I have to admit, at the time we were glad to see the back of these, such was the view at the time. Note bricked up windows because of the daft window tax.
They're the type I was on about to Ged in the Albion St thread(St Domingo Road),two story houses built on top of shops...Geds got another pic of this type of house over shop on his site.
Got a feeling those houses where on Walton Lane and not Walton road?

There was a bloke of that name who lived in Scarisbrick Drve in the 40s and 50s.

However something in the back of me mind is tellin me that there was some on Walton road before the Astoria cinema ie going towards town way.?
Anyway here's the ones on Walton Lane and if you google Walton Lane and its Street view you'll see a lot of new house at the side of the pub thats where blocks of the shops and house above where,in the pic and there was more the other side of the pub(same side ie left of the pub in the pic.

You are right George. The next shot (Stan always took severaal of each street) clearly shows the Astoria a few yards further down the street. Stan was a stickler for correct facts and always carefully labelled his photos - often adding the house numbers. Stan came from Mossley Hill, worked for the GPO as a telephone installation inspector and lived in the Wirral from the 1960s.
Hah,that would be right then these were on the opposite side of ie where the new houses where built,because most of the shops are still standing and the only new complex on the shops side to be built was the CAB(Citizens Advice) this was what was nagging away at the grey matter thinking where they where. :PDT11Quote:

The cowboy on the Marlboro ad died of lung cancer.
No doubt this Stan would have known my dad, as he was also firstly a telephone engineer, then an installation inspector from the late 40s through to the late 60s.Quote:
