A man-made bee hive perhaps?
No one would know what it's supposed to be ! ha! :)
Ok, here's a clue...Something was wrapped around it.

Did it have anything to do with the Festival Gardens ?
This structure had thick rope spiralling around it. I believe it was part of the nautical-themed exhibits that were placed around that part of the waterfront. The rope has obviously rotted away or been removed over time. Someone may have a picture of it from the IGF, but I've never seen one yet.
If you look closely you can still see the impression the rope has left.
And here's me thinkin' it was a fossil from the pleistocene period!!:rolleyes:
