MERSEYSIDERS are being given their own membership of 2008 with a new Capital of Culture loyalty card more
How and where do you get them? I wouldn't mind one.:)
they'll be in tomorrow's Echo apparently and you can activate them via a website:
http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/c...name_page.html
and here's the website:
http://www.08card.co.uk/site/home
This is a really great idea that will help raise the profile of 08 and help get more people involved.:)
If you don't get one tomorrow in the Echo, you can order one via the 08 website geoffrey quotes above - expect 28 days for delivery.
They'll also be available in libraries, one-stop shops etc but don't know when from
Order them for how much though?
What do I get money off for though?
They are free, I've just ordered two.
Offers
What crap offers, you don't need those S2 and 3 buses. It will take longer on those buses because of traffic congestion In the city centre.
Like when I met Pete and the homies, they jumped the bus to Wellington dock while I had my bike to and I got there faster.:PDT10
My mum just brought back an Echo with a card In.
I've ordered mine,my one never turned up with the Echo, nothing to do with the special prizes that are on offer in which you have to activate your card by the 26th of this month is it?
I've got mine but they are useless at PR
On leaflet you get with it the shtick is
Are you fed-up with finding out about events too late to grab that elusive ticket or attend?
Once you become an 08 Card holder that will become a thing of the past
Is the 08 Ambassadors thing so soon forgotten?
I got one in Echo, a lot of hype about nothing
Looking at the so called offers their absolute rubish.
Nothing to write home about.
Got mine with the Liverpool Echo.
Found a good use for the envelope as well >>>>>
Laminated it and stuck it in the back window of the Van.
Well it does say "08".

think i wil stick to my regular loo paper :)
Two-for-one ticket offer for hottest shows is on the cards
TICKETS for two of the hottest shows in town have gone on sale exclusively to 08 Card holders.
Cardholders can be the first to buy two for the price of one tickets for the opening nights of Blood Brothers and Doctor Dolittle.
Tickets, which range from £10 to £35, are on sale exclusively to 08 Card holders until July 16, when they go on sale to the general public.
two for one offer available on first night only I think?

Well I got tickets for the front block for Dr Doolittle for £16 each, normally I'm priced out of going to these shows because I'm not willing to pay about £100+ for an evening out at the theatre.I'll pay £65 for a family of 4 so I'm already finding my card useful.
Used me card in a cash machine as I was doing a performance art piece called "Turning my Bank Account upside down" and thought the Culture Company could spare some money to pay for it, as it had a legacy effect (I wouldn't spend the money until 2009) and it also had the WOW factor but unfortunately it didnt pay out. So it looks like another engaging the community event bites the dust
I haven't had any emails from them telling me of any events, I did register for email alerts when I registered the card, perhaps there just haven't been any events at all.
Apparently they are also good for "chopping" coke whatever that means

Got mine yesterday - I haven't received any emails yet either.
Got mine yesterday as well
I got mine yesterday aswell. I think the e-mails will gradually increase as the card becomes more popular and the offers become better. The best thing to do is go on the website to view any updates. It's still in its infancy, but the closer 2008 gets the more offers we will get. Be patient!
received mine today, can i ask everyone to check the expiry date on the reverse of the card as mine expires at the end of 07/07, WTF??
mine expires end 06/07
mine has already expired!
Mine expires end 12/09
phredd
Same here, mine turned up yesterday and has already expired.
Also heard a rumour that they might be available to use on more bus routes but only within the city centre. No idea if that will ever work but the two routes currently would only help me to get from Lime St to Tithebarn if i had luggage.
Don't panic good people. Looking at the 08card website it says this about the said problem - My 08 Card has an expiry date of 06/07, is it out of date?
It is getting quite funny now, lets continue along with the 08 ride! :PDT_Xtremez_42:
lol
CAPITAL of Culture loyalty card bosses have reassured people after cards were sent out – giving people just a week to use them. Read
If I get a card I could set It on fire for fun.:PDT_Aliboronz_24:
****Card-holders can take advantage of a two for one offer available on the Merseyrail network within the Merseyside boundary every Thursday after 6pm.
It means any adult buying a cheap day return ticket can get a second ticket free for the same journey on the Northern, Wirral and City Lines.
****Tate Liverpool at the Albert Dock launches its Late at Tate scheme, allowing 08 card-holders to enjoy two for one entry to exhibitions and discounts to events.
My friend got hers from the 08 shop in town last week.
She said that whilst she was in there, some tourists came in and asked the girl in the shop what the cards were for and if they were eligible for one.
She said they were and gave them all cards.
Now, I am not mean or selfish, but I thought the cards were only for residents of Liverpool!
No, they said at the beginning that anyone could have a card, not just residents.
As for buses, the city is soon going to get a free city centre bus, like Manchester and Leeds have. That's in addition to the S2 and S3 (if they decide to continue with them). It should cover more of the centre than it does at present. Councillor Bradley announced it at a Culture Company update last year but I thought maybe the free use of S2/S3 for card-holders was it. But a driver told me that they've been test-driving the new route.
I think it's called having your cake and eating it:
Speaking at yesterday’s celebrity launch of the free 08 Card, Liverpool council leader Warren Bradley said the card – the first of its kind in the UK – was being issued as “part of the city’s gift to residents” in the approach to the 2008 celebrations.
And in the same article:
Lord Mayor Cllr Paul Clark said he was pleased to support the launch of the card as he believed it would unite the city.
He said: “These are really good offers. I will certainly be using them and think everybody should.
“Tourists will be arriving in their hundreds of thousands and will be offered an 08 Card so they too can get the offers.
“This is win-win for residents and visitors alike.”

I got my Loyalty card via the Echo on the day they issued them.
Activated it and yesterday I recieved this from the post office :-
Now is it the post office who are being over keen or is it COC not knowing that an A4 envelope with goodies in costs more than a first class stamp.
6 pence due and I had to pay £1 for the privilage of paying 6 pence. The bloody stuff inside the envelope was not worth £1 anyway.
Nothing on the outside of the envelope to say where it had come from nor the contents so I could not send it back as undelivered.
