Just to let anyone know who may be interested. There will be a community screening of Gardens of Stone at the Lee Jones League of Welldoers on Limekiln Lane at 2pm on Thursday 19th April.
They and the Scottie Press are putting this on as the film contains early 1900s footage of the league of welldoers and they will also have their photographs on show. It will also commemorate the 20th anniversary of the demolition of the Gerard Gardens/Crescent blocks of which there is unusually so much footage in existance from their building, right through the decades, including 2 films shot in there in the 50s and the 80s, considering they were just council tenements.
Around 50 local dignitaries are expected to attend with around 150 free seats available for the general public which went on release at 10am this morning. Contact Lesley on 0151 207 1984. It would appear that around 40 odd of these have already been snapped up by locals which may result in another screening some time in the future.
The Wavertree Historic Society screening went very well last night which was attended by a full house.
Report has it that no stone was used in these buildings?
Cement and bricks yes, but stone was very lacking.
:)

Love it :handclap: I think thats where i used to live.
Just to let everyone know that back by popular demand. The emotive film documentary, Gardens of Stone will be screened again tonight at the Olive Mount Community Centre, Wellstead Road, off Thingwall Road, Wavertree Garden suburb to cater for those who missed out last time. The model of Gerard Gardens will also be on display. Hope to maybe meet a couple of Yoers there. Doors open at 7pm.
Just in case. 9 seats still available, they don't expect any further phone bookings so it's a case of turning up on the door in time or standing room only at the back sorry.
Cheers,
Ged.
Ged , can i get this on DVD ?
Afraid not Debra due to copyright law (including the fantastic soundtrack)
The number of times Paul has been asked for a dvd of this, he'd be quids in and it's even been to suggested to him by the BBC Radio Merseyside presenters who seen it and wanted a copy of it that he just used his own material (Paul being a musician too) but it would detract from the film as a whole so he wont. He's got a lot of copyright approval from other sources but just a few letting him down.
The new museum curators have this film now and will be editing the 1 hours 20 version down to a 10/15 minute version which will run on a continuous loop at the new museum where my model will also be on display for 5 years. Once Paul has the film back we have a number of screenings of the full film lined up, not least for Mart in Old Swan who keeps asking me. ;)
Thanks Ged .. Is the New Museum open yet ?
Spring 2011 though I don't know what's keeping them - it all looks done to me.
Probably made the entrance too small to get the large objects in or something? :)
There is a FREE Gardens of Stone screening in the Stoneycroft district of Queens Drive this Thursday at 7.15pm.
If anybody wants to come, please PM me asap as places are limited to 30 and there are already about 20 seats taken.

There's still a few places left but don't complain when you hear how we all enjoyed the film. :PDT_Piratz_26:
Well I've been offline for a couple of days and what do I find? I would have loved to have seen the film. It's now 7.15 so I've missed it clearly............and more importantly Martin in his pinny? Hmmmm!!!!
I was going to txt your son to tell him to tell you but didn't know if you'd be interested.
We had 23 in all.
Not wanting to rub it in but it is a great film.
May be showing other different films over the coming months, will let you know.
Mart
A great night. Somehow there were 3 drummers and 4 bass players present so the beat and rhythm section was going good. Then Mart starting singing
I can never tire of seeing that film and if I had it i'd pause it and screenshot some never before seen scenes which are great.
