Fred,
Do you know what hospital he is in? I live in the area and could actually go and see him. Is the PM system still working on here? I've tried and failed to find a way of sending you my email address. Brian has it but if he's in no shape to respond there's not much point in me emailing him.
Kevin
Thanks for that Lindylou, I'll pass it on. Kevin, are you on Yahoo? If so we may be able to chat. I don't want to give out Brian's e-mail address on the site, maybe a Moderator can help?
Fred,
I already have his address, and he has mine (witness the number of times he's frozen my mailbox by sending large attachements!).
I was trying to find a way of getting my address to you so you could tell me where Brian is (which hospital).
I guess there is no problem me putting it here as anybody can find my works email by searching for me. As soon as you've copied it, let me know, and I'll edit it out of this post.
Cheers,
Kevin
Copied Kevin e-mail on its way.
Got it Kevin.
Hello Tabnab - I'm very concerned to hear about Brian. Please give him
my heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery.
Stan H
I'm sorry to have to report that Brian is seriously ill in hospital and on a ventilator. We have all enjoyed reading his lucid and engaging life story and wish him a speedy recovery.
Best wishes for your speedy recovery Brian.
Awful news, here's hoping he makes a speedy recovery.
What a shock! Lets hope Brian makes a speedy recovery.
"Just recd. a email from Brian's daughter , I'm sure she will let him know that we are all thinking of him, and wish him well!"
Hello Tabnab,
Sorry to hear about Brian. I thought something was wrong when he didn't reply to my post in the thread he started "Where we sailed from". He was always on the ball with his replies.
Please pass on my best wishes for his speedy recovery.
Alec (Trader)
Just heard from Brian's daughter (Fred, thanks for your help with this).
Hoping to get to visit Brian in the next few days and will report back.
Kevin
Hi Norm,
have you heard any more about Brian?
Steve.
Hi Guys,
Just heard that Brian is in hospital, seriously ill and on a ventilator. His daughter is asking for E mails of support to him so that she can read them to him when he is a little better. I have sent one and here is the E mail address for his daughter.
subridaley@hotmail.co.uk
Please send him a message and give him your support, it will be nice for him to think we are all rooting for him.
Chris.
Thanks Chris, very sad news indeed.
Chris,
Brian's problems have come up on several different threads before this one.
http://www.yoliverpool.com/forum/sho...t=11314&page=8
Now that you've started a thread with Brian's name on, can I suggest that anybody who hears anything posts it here on Chris's thread so it is easier for those interested to monitor how Brian is doing?
Nothing arranged yet but I'm still hoping to call in to see him by the weekend.
Cheers,
Kevin
your wish is my command :PDT11
Kev,
Sorry - I wasn't clear enough. I meant that posts should be on Chris's 'Brian Daley' thread, rather than on bits n bobs. Then people instantly know where to go for the latest news specific to Brian.
That the problem with being a moderator - you do your best and nobody appreciates it.
;-)
Kevin
Sorry everyone, seems I have caused a problem - I only wanted to do the best for Brian.
Chris.
Sorry for what? You were trying to keep us informed but weren't to know what had gone before. I still think it is best that any news is posted on your thread. From the comments so far it is clear that Brian's condition is of concern to many on this site - let's make it easy for people to keep track of developments.
I vote for the Brian Daley thread!
Okay, sorted now.
So sorry to hear about Brian. I loved his hullo old home thread and printed it out and took it on hols with me the year before last and made my kids see how it was back then. Having also lived in the tennies it struck a cord and being mid 40s I could well remember some of the things from the late 60 and all through the 70s Brian recalls. I hope he gets well soon. Come on Brian we need another chapter yet.
Ged.
I have pages of his work in my files too, he's a fine writer. Brian, get well soon mate and take it easy, you have an awaiting audience here, willing you back to good health, there's even some prayers going up for you I bet, to get back on here.
:hug::PDT_Aliboronz_11:
Just to add my own good wishes, get well soon Brian, we miss you.
Tony
Please let Brian know, I would like to wish him well.
I too, like many, many others, printed off his stories and passed it around to so many people and they all commented on how fascinated they were with them and the way in which they were told, it felt like you were there with him.
It gave me an insight into exactly what Liverpool was like during his childhood.
A couple of older friends could relate to most of his tales and this sparked more memories for them !
Let him know that he has cheered up more people than he knows about with his writings and posts on here and I'm sure they, like I, am thinking of him and wish him a speedy recovery.
Martin.
Get better soon Brian, Take it easy mate.
For those who might like a printed and bound copy of Brian's early memories , The Garston Historical Society has published details of Brian's autobiography of his early life in Garston. It's called Tenement Kid and includes various family photos. Copies available from Community House, Speke Rd, Garston
A good friend/shipmate of Brians called me last night to make sure everyone knew Brian wasn't too good. I knew there was something already mentioned but I said I would mention it.
So....Brian,get well from all here and "The Ariel fella" too:PDT_Piratz_26:
Lets hope we hear some good news from Brian's daughter soon, everyone on this forum must be wishing him well! and desperate to hear how he is getting on. "Get Well Soon, Brian!"
Hear, hear Norm!

The best laid plans..
On Wednesday I had to have the dual mass flywheel and clutch replaced on my car - anyone with a Mondeo will know all about that. Got my car back on Thursday and planned on visiting Brian on Sunday - it's about 50 miles to the hospital and difficult without a car.
On Friday it became clear that all is not right with the wheelbearings on a couple of wheels, so the car is going into the garage again. Consequently, I couldn't risk the trip on Sunday. I'm going to ring Brian's daughter today and see if something can be arranged in the next few days.
To all on 'Yo' Just recd this e-mail from Brian's daughter.
Hi Norm and all of you at Yo! Liverpool!
I'm sorry I haven't been in touch - it's been a mad week!
Thank you all so much for all the lovely messages you have been sending - I read them to my dad while he was asleep and again today when he was awake!!!!
He really was touched - although he is unable to talk as he has had a trachiotramy his eyes saod it all. Please keep in touch as I know it means a lot to him.
He is still in critical care and will be for some time yet but hopefully he will continue being brave and get through this.
Thanks again for your kind messages, I'll keep you all updated!
Kind regards
Jo
