Nothing to do with churches I know but Balls Road is also home to the vasectomy clinic. Strange but true.

St Benedicts Church of England, Heyworth Street stood on its West Side between Rupert Lane and Kepler Street, captured here on 3rd July 1967.
Paul McCartney's dad, Jim was born on 7th July (same as Ringo) but in 1902. He was baptised here 2 months later.

Here's a pic of Christ church what used to be in Norris Green.
Can't say I've ever seen much activity at this church, even when I lived almost opposite!
I never put two and two together that it was originally part of the church
I can't quite remember the church, but vaguely aware that there was one located somewhere by there.
I'm wondering now where the old cinema fitted in near to that church . . . there was a cinema right by there wasn't there ??
The cinema was to the left and became this.

Great photos guys.
Richmond Baptist on Breck rd has been empty and neglected for a long time. It's now up for sale. I can't see anyone taking over those premises for anything as it is such a huge place. It's in a very poor state of neglect and I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually gets demolished.

St James in the City,on Upper Parliament St and Princes Rd built in 1774,closed in 1971 and reopened in 2009.
We passed a church yesterday on Smithdown rd that has been turned into flats  It just looks strange to me.

Thanks Ged, great mosaics displayed there ... ... I really enjoyed going through the Little Italy site. :handclap:
The church was built in 1920,the sculpture on the front about 1945 by Tom Murphy, not the Tom Murphy thats currently doing local work now.
Has it closed now ?
It was the university chaplaincy with tea and biscuits served to the students after mass on sundays.

St Werberghs and St Laurences church in Birkenhead, opened in 1837,with it`s war memorial and stained glass window to the Kearney family
Whether one is religious and a believer or not, I find the architecture of these buildings, the scale, smell, aura and biblical statues and paintings fantastic.

St Jame`s church in New Brighton
To echo what Ged has said - and I'm not a believer - I love these buildings, I love the scale and architecture of them.
St. Monica's in Bootle is one of my favourites - Art Deco at it's best!
I'll try and photograph some this week myself.
Somebody asked what is on the site of Christ Church (Sedgemoor Road) in Norris Green. It's a new development of houses finished around Christmas time and called Christ Church Close.
