Great place the Hole in the Wall, just a pity they were forced to start letting women in under the sex discrimination act.:PDT11

I lived in Philharmonic Court (to the right in your photo, through the gates) while attending university, but oddly enough didn't go to the Belvedere very often. Shot from 1984:

Last time I went to Woolton the Famous Elephant was closed and most of the letters were taken off. I wonder If the owners are doing It up?
Think I'll go down for Woolton pics today, the skies are nice for pics.
A different name. Why?

Max, check the Woolton thread if the link doesn't work.
It won't happen, I bet.
Remember when the Crown in Lime Street was called "The Florin & Firkin"?
They'd have a firkin cheek to change the name of the Elephant.
The Coach and Horses pub has been bought too by the people who own that Alma De Cuba too!:PDT_Xtremez_42:
The Dryden, Edge Lane...reopened last week 'under new management'
The Falkland Arms, Falkland Street...almost demolished.
The Lord Warden, London Road...currently surrounded by scaffolding.
Went past 'The Mole of Edge Hill' pub today on Wavertree Road - it's a bloody Pharmacy now!!!
Aye, a lovely building which gladly wasn't included in the Demolition of Edge Lane! Never been in though...yet :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Looks like on old Cinema.
Could someone tell me whatever became of The Newington--my memory is fuzzy, but I remember it being off of Renshaw street, close to Lewis's. This photo is from sometime in the 90s after it had been refurbished.
This pub if I'm not mistaken is situated in Newington (more of a passage than a road), which runs between Bold Street and Renshaw Street opposite Grand Central.
I'm sure it's now known as The Old Rope Walk. I've got a photograph somewhere on my other computer. I'll see if i can find it.
I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

^^Welcome Ross08^^ :)
Thank you. I'll confess now though. I'm not actually a new member... I've been posting for a while under the name Ross.
I've not been on the forum for a few weeks because of problems with my internet provider and now I've changed my email address etc. etc.
As its a while since I've been on YO! Liverpool, I've forgotten my p/w and of course if I requested it to be sent to me, it would go to my old email address that no longer exists.
So, maybe there are other ways to go about this situation, but in the end I decided to register again.

Not really a pub, more of a bar / nightspot.

This bar looks as though it has been derelict for a while.
DEANE RD, Kensington - Runs between Edge Ln. and Kensington opposite the Littlewoods building.
Does anyone have any information about this place, does anyone know when it closed?
Wow, thanks for the speedy answer! I found a photo of the pub on Scouser Dave's site:

I worked in Tate and Lyle's in the mid 70s and often went boozing round the Scottie Road area with the blokes I worked with, most of them lived around the refinery. One pub they often mentioned was Effin' Nelly's, which was round the Limekiln Lane area I think and was so named because of a previous manageress. I can't remember if we ever went in there or not but can anyone remember where it was and what was it's real name. Still makes me laugh whenever I think of it.
I don't remember the proper name of 'effin nellies' it was behind the multi story flats on Vauxhall Rd/Blenheim St. opposite the Shell station that was there in the 70's.
She used to come in the garage to 'phone her orders in because her 'phone was cut off and she was on a cash only basis with the brewery, that was in '71/'72 when i worked down there for a short while.:002:
Ged or Gerard will probably know the proper name.
Sorry no pic as yet
But the Belmont pub corner of Belmont Road and Wesr Derby Road. An old drinking hole of mine in the 60s.
Will try and get a pic soonest.

This place on Heyworth St. has some wonderful carvings of people on the outside-you can just see two of them over the door.
