I agree, though i'm afraid being listed guarantees nothing. The owners, council or otherwise should be answerable to somebody after a certain time.

Really good photies of yesteryear. Amazing when you walk down old streets and see the designs of warehouses etc, built over 100 years ago.
Great pic's Joe! I like all of the buildings on those corners, especially no'1,though I think it's empty?

Alma de Cuba resturant and bar, the old St Peter`s church in Seel St. Built in 1788,it was given to the Polish community in 1976 and became Our Lady of Czestochowa but in 1978 it closed it`s doors.
It reopened as a resturant and bar with quite a lot of the old church still intact.

Great pic's Joe! My grandparents were married there, around 1901!
That's one fancy resturant - I'll put it on my list for our next visit. Nice pics.
Thanks for your comments folks,
I`ve passed there many times never been inside before, I was the only person in there at 2pm till 2 more people came in.
It was the winner of Best Resturant and Bar in 2008,2009,2010. Don`t know what the prices are, I only had a brandy but the staff were very friendly. I was offered a special coffee made in a glass with 4 different coloured portions to sample but I had to decline as I don`t like coffee .
The building is steeped in history see

St Peter`s Missionries of Charity in Seel St. People who have fallen on hard times can get some help there, Saw a funny thing whilst there, a man comes up and knocks at the door.
The door opens, a few words are said, then a parcel of sandwiches are passed out. The man walks away then proceeds to feed the birds with the food.

Great pic's Joe!
I was walking past that missionary building one day,and I heard a voice whispering"please help me"! A bit surprised,a woman,at one of those windows, then said "get me out of here, they're keeping me prisoner"! I stood there, thinking,it's some sort of religious building,so why would she be saying this,to a total stranger? Then a nun came to the door, and muttered something unintelligable, and shewed me away, saying "she needs help",before shutting the door!? I carried on,and forgot about it,but occasionally I wonder what was going on,and what happened to her?
Also,the "Alabama" is apparently,the most successful warship........ever!?

Union House designed by Alfred Shennan ,a Liverpool architect. in 1946. This was supposed to sit between Tower Street and Convent Garden replacing 3 buildings with some war damage, but it never got built
What a fine building. It would have looked great.
These are wonderful photos GD, again, THANK YOU

Very fine, Joe. The Carters memorial looks great, and I remember the Five Lamps from going to visit some friends of my family in Waterloo, when we got the bus to the Five Lamps.
Cheers

What I find strange about Gostins Building is the sandstone stonework arches at the front which seem to be a lot older than the rest of the building. Did they come from a building that stood there before it?
