Hello Woody, nice pic.
It,s surprising how many of my relatives have no idea what,s going on down there. They read the ECHO and think it,s somewhere else I think. I take a walk around there on a regular basis when I,m up in Liverpool:PDT_Aliboronz_24:
Recent photos from Alexandra Tower.

The agenda for the planning committee meeting for the 26th of June has been put up, Plot 3a is up for approval. The tower is 34 storeys.:D

Sounds good to me! ;)
The Alexandra Tower Is very wide compared to most towers.
Maybe It Is a towa of powa being built with a good amount of width.
If I ever hulked out at Princes dock and threw my opponent through that tower, It would have that much sturdiness, It would still be standing even with a donut like hole In It.
The top of the hotel (11th floor) will have a skybar in it.:)
Will the Sky Bar be cheap enough for a Yo Liverpool meetup?
Good to see planners look set to recommend a 34 storey tower, plan for Princes Dock, despite more objections from CABE and English Heritage.

Why do CABE and EH always have to moan about every tall building that is proposed. The tower looks fine to me and I don't think the height is an issue. 34 storeys means it will be smaller than Beetham West which is behind it, plus the land it is being built on is lower than where the Beethams are. I think it will fit in nicely.
I hope it gets approved!:PDT_Piratz_26:
^^Me to^^ I can't think of a better location for this type of tower, how on earth could it be unsuitable for the waterfront?
Approve or else :PDT11
That,s a cracker Phil, well done mate.:)
D-Day for Plot 3a today...

Fingers crossed!:PDT_Xtremez_42:
I heard this building, if approved, is to be clad in corton steel under glass. Corton Steel is a metal that is allowed to rust, which, believe it or not, protects the metal from further oxidization and would give the building the reddish hue shown in the artist impression in the picture above. Can anyone vouch for the veracity of this rumour?
It has been approved unanimously :PDT11
'tis great, lets look forward.
Good to hear something get past the planners. CABE & EH shouldn't have a problem with it, it's not right bang on top of The Pier Head.
And if they had a problem with that area how did the two Beetham Towers get through.
And hello to everyone, been reading for a while and only just got round to posting.
Currently residing overlooking the St Pauls development, nice alarm clock for the orning.
Hi Jon, welcome :PDT11
Brilliant news!:PDT_Piratz_26:
Does anyone know if there is a plan for another tower next to Alexandra tower? I was reading an article on skyscrapernews.com about plot 3a, and near the end it mentions the king Edward tower and something about another tower next to Alexandra. Could it be one of the towers planned by Peel?

was there today, notices on lamps advising of new floating homes to arrive soon in princes dock! pity my missus gets sea sick :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
Hi, Dave, yes I took some photo's of the same bridge, "july waterfront", very futuristic. I tried to frame the liverbuildings in the center of my shot but took a couple of close ups too.
I think theres going to be another bridge a little further up

Anyone know when the New World Square development will be on site? I'm still a bit disappointed that the first proposal was refused, but lets hope this at least turns out to be somewhat better than the PD office developments.
NWS and 3A should bring some much needed life back to this area and the Cruise Liner will certainly help as well. Alexandra Tower and City Lofts are good additions as well.
Can't wait for that new entrance to PD from the Business District, the prison wall can be a bit annoying...

Another section of old Liverpool is being excavated at the very start of Princes Dock. Just cut down the narrow footpath at the left-side of the Crowne Plaza hotel. Looks like a very deep dock-wall and cobbled area.
Time to have a say on Liverpool’s floating homes

Artist's impression of what the new Flotilla floating homes will look like at Princes Dock
LUXURY floating homes on Princes Dock are one step closer to fruition now a planning consultation period has begun.
If given the go-ahead, 12 flotilla detached homes will be “anchored” in the dock in the first marina-style development of its kind in the UK.

Hmmmm, It might make Princess dock nicer for a photo.
Horrible.
It's with good reason the rest of the UK has not allowed anything like this.
The council should have the courage to insist on real boats, not floating boxes made out of ticky-tacky and they all look just the same.
Colourless homes owned or rented by wealthy absentee "residents" - what could be worse?
Now if they allowed live-aboard narrowboats or historic vessels and allowed old salts to run little artsy or chandlers businesses from them as part of the deal, now that would be adding value and interest to the area.
The West-side of Princes Dock had been filled recently. I don't know if it's to do with the canal link.
