Yeah...I agree, the Dock does seem a lot closer now.

I took over 200 photographs in Liverpool today; here are just a selection of the photos from Liverpool ONE.

This wasn't my first visit to Liverpool ONE, but each time I do visit I am amazed.

Liverpool has come so far, in such a short space of time.

There will still be people who knock Liverpool, but walk around the city... nobody can argue that things are on the up.

It's great that visitors to the city can now disembark their cruise ships at Pier Head, walk through Albert Dock, into Liverpool ONE and then into the city.

Liverpool ONE is definitely the icing on the cake in our city's bid to become a European shopping destination.

Ross Campbell. October 2008.
:handclap: @Ross
Excellent views cheers :PDT11
architecture became very uniform. Glass, steel, ..... these building could also have been built in Germany. Only these brown colour of that one building is very Liverpoolish.
And I suppose there does only one company produce the handrails for the whole world.
lol, I see
The old "park" was little more than brick rubble with a thin layer of grass and soil and a path to the Albert Dock dating only from the early 1980's. The only connection to Noewl Chavasse was the name, which remains.
The new place is a million times better.
Great pics...where's that spiral staircase?...never seen that before.
Thanks...That's why I haven't seen it, I haven't got a car!!!
Yes it looks very nice but the standard of the concrete work is woeful. There is re-bar showing through the concrete,a large section of the car park floor had to be ripped up and replaced because the re-bar was sticking out.The units around the base of the park leak because of the bad finnishing to the expansion joints. Is this the result of unskilled foreign labour and the client pushing to complete on time ? I think it is.
Yes, it appears the Poles are rusty too.
I really like the new centre, I was sceptical at first about the impact on other shops and businesses, but now that most of it's open I'm very impressed, and town's never been busier. Exploring all the new streets and alley ways is interesting and there are new views of the older buildings everywhere. I think that the new restaurants on the top floor of L1 that runs into the park are going to be lovely to sit outside in the summer, and the curved glass frontage to the shops in Keys Court is a modern take on a Victorian shopping arcade. It'll be nice to see the old Quiggins building when its finished. Everyone's photo's of the area are great to see :)
Yes it's lovely to see the quiggins building all spruced up...lots of fond memories in that place.
I went again today and it was nice to see people using the park in the mild heat. Plus I finally managed to go to my beloved Yo! Sushi. :D But one little thought did occur to me while in One...
When do you think we'll get our first suicide? I mean there's that many balconies and high walkways, it only seems like a matter of time before we get one. Haven't there been 2 or 3 in World Museum?
I had a meal in Waggamammas, nice it was, a real mix of people. Its a beautiful area at the top, a wide expanse of grass and open area for the public to enjoy.
I had a quick peep on the way back from the hozzie last week. Its a bit off putting on the top level that the walkway suddenly stops. few people got caught out thinking there was lift or staircase at the end (incl me :PDT_Xtremez_42:)
if someone is desperate and determined enough they'll jump off anything.
yes there was one a few months back in the museum. guy jumped into the main foyer if front of shocked patrons.

someone posted a pic of that rather cool Liverbird in Keys Court the other day which I loved.
so when I took my camera down I made a special effort to get my own pics. I did notice that there's more to the bird than meets the eye. there's a few things built into the bird

Well spotted quincy, is 1 Park West ablaze? :)
Great pics Quincy...I never noticed all of that stuff before. Then next time I walk past it I'll have a closer look.
It is very clever and creative.:handclap:
this was a bit disconcerting in Chevasse Park...looks like a grave!

perhaps it's a Biennial Piece, art is dead?! :unibrow:
a funeral of bricks at least. maybe
Went into Liverpool 1 sometime in August. I wasn't impressed at all - it looked like all the shops had just moved up the road - to be with Debenhams and John Lewis. I couldn't really see what all the fuss was about.
However, last Sunday I came through Chavasse Park way - lovely. Obviously Phase 2 is now open and this is why is looked better to me.
With regards to Chavasse Park - if my memory serves me right - it was just a field with a path going through it towards Paradise Street. I think it looks better now.
I am going down this week to have a good look - and may treat myself to a cuppa in the cafe in Debenhams, which looks like it has a good view of the riverside.
I'm not a big shopper, but I think Liverpool 1 is good for the city. It is better than what was there previously.
It was weird in the wind today up on Chavasse Park as we arrived to go into The Odeon. Felt like we were on the top of Snowdon!
Despite feeling a bit anxious [we were with the kids too], what a fab cinema!
The whole of Liverpool One is a triumph for the city!
I was very impressed by the idea of Liverpool 1 and as I walked around it my honest opinion was "It's a dear hole".
Doesn't his Dukedom not realise there's a credit crunch and with prices as expensive as that many of those units will be going empty very soon?
L1 has 'bucked' the trend, it has been a hooj success. What it was done is attracted those people who would have normally shopped in Chester, Manchester etc. It has also enabled many city workers to pop to L1 after a late 'ish' evening at work.
The place was buzzing when we went to the 'pictures' yesterday, it was great to see :PDT11
When getting the bus in to work, it turns up towards the Vic Monument by Debenhams on the corner and I get a brief view of L1 from the bus.
I've still not been to see it despite working about 30 seconds away but one thing struck me, the fact that Paradise Street was a flat road that ran towards the bus station, as you look at where WH Smiths and HMV, it is like a massive gradient to get to it! Was there a reason for this at all - i.e. buildings underneath this walk way?
LIVERPOOL One will be shopping for talent next week with auditions for musicians and performers on its leisure terrace galleria. Read
Well I ventured down to the outskirts of Liverpool 1 today in my lunch hour. What a farce. Went in to HMV and couldn't find owt so had to ask - that's a first.
Then went to WH Smiths and was glad I didn't bring my cat as I wouldn't have been able to swing it. I almost went for a burton too on the floor that ain't level by the window too to match the outside walkway.
Nosed down the steps and didn't bother going further. If taking fantastically large shops and condensing them is the future then I'll stick to the net in future.
well at least we didn't lumbered with this monstrosity!

ALMOST 30 new shops will open in Liverpool One over the next few weeks.
The ?1bn shopping centre at the heart of the city said 19 new brands are planning a pre-Christmas unveiling, including clothing lines Lacoste, Henri Lloyd and Drome.
Cafe Sports, an extension of the Stanley Street eaterie set up by Liverpool FC star Jamie Carragher, is also expected to open.
Ten more new outlets will be added after Christmas, such as Flannels, Reiss, Oakley and Jigsaw.
Neil Barber, head of retail leasing at Liverpool One developer Grosvenor, said: ?We are confident Liverpool One will not only be a commercial success, but will have a lasting impact on the future of urban regeneration.?
The shopping district now has 175 retail units, a 14-screen Odeon cinema, restaurants, cafes and bars.
That's amazing...I didn't think there was that many units still available.
I'm looking forward to the new Waterstones opening at the end of November.
It just gets better and better!:PDT11
