The third section was there yesterday. The fourth section was installed just after Noon today. It's quite a long structure when all put together.
its just a pity that ark royals now not coming, I was looking forward to seing a modern day warship *sighs* and the significance of ark royal too.
another bad glitch.
kat:shock:
Pic 1 shows the 3 sections, just before Noon. The last pic shows a bolt which secures the last clamp...success.
All four sections.
THanku, Marky, lovely collection of photographs, showing the final sections of the pontoon coming together at last, it was good of you to take time out to show the whole experience

I had a boat trip over to the Isle of Man today and saw the last section being floated along by three tugs. Will post some pictures in the morning.

LIVERPOOL’S cruise liner terminal is finally in place, paving the way for a return of the ocean-going cruise liners to the world-famous waterfront. Read
It brings back great memories. I was a Cunard Yank and of course the Britannic, along with so many others; Sylvania, Carinthia, Ivernia, Saxonia, MV Georgic, Reina del Mar, Pacifico del Mar (?), the Empress liners
. . . . can't believe we took everything for granted. It never occurred to us that it would all come to an end so abruptly. Those Days of Excitement, Elegance, Glamour, Ostentatious Grandeur. We we all Cunarders then.
MY CUNARD JUMPER
'Twas just an old blue jumper,
With the words 'Cunard' in red;
But it served as winter warmer, and
A pillow for my head.
It saw the watch and stood the wheel,
Till coldness of the dawn,
From masthead to the keel and aft,
Where future dreams are borne.
I wish that old blue jumper,
With its 'Cunard' words in red,
Was on my shoulders even now,
To share the past unsaid.
To bear the chill of passing time,
And comfort me from sin,
When I was in that jumper,
With the future looking in.
Very impressive pics Marty.. So, there ya go... Cruise liners to your port of call.. They are beautiful to see in OUR harbor here.. so majestic..
miguel Hi
To pick up on your (?) = It was the Reina Del Pacifico :slywink:
Right words, wrong way round.:)
Phredd.
Oh well, difference between sea and Pacific. So size does matter - I knew it did . . . thank God. Hey, cheers, Phredd
The new road bridge to the cruise liner berth:

Walkway in place (pics taken yesterday)
The old one that; re-painted. You're not kidding Michael
The foot walkway may be the old one, but the road bridge is new, having been constructed on-site to specific designs.
Looks nice, and nice photos too, I beleive the first ship is due on the 2nd of September, but it will probably anchor in the usual place rather than use the terminal.

LIVERPOOL’S new £19m cruise liner landing stage will be given its big test tomorrow when it welcomes its first visitor. Read
(Three threads merged)
It would be nice if this landing stage could be called by its original name " Princes Landing Stage". It would maintain continuity with the past in much the same way as the term Pier Head and Mann Island have survived. "Cruise Liner Landing Stage" is probably a misnomer anyway. I suspect other ships will tie up there including the Royal Navy's Ark Royal when it finally returns.

As i'm not going out tonight, might go for an early wander in the morning as it's only 5 mins walk from me.
I had the same thought Jon.
Just got to drag myself out of my pit by 7am.
So has someone snapped up the berth vacancy created by Ark Royal's cancellation? Anyone grabbed it? Someone must have an interesting ship at a loose end next weekend. Perhaps the Irish Navy?
Got there about 7.40am, couldn't see the liner as i was walking through Princes Dock but could see the water cannons from the tugs coming down the River.
Not a massive ship but looks very nice and every room comes with a balcony.
Only got a pic via mobile phone. Any clues on how to upload it or could i text/email to it anyone via my phone. Unless Kev was there taking pics?
Greetings Jon. I never noticed Kev there, but I shall upload a few pictures I took soon.
:PDT_Piratz_26:
I don't know what anyone looks like but fancied a wander as i live not far from there.
At least it will save me posting a phone pic.
Looks like a few of them are going to Chester for a tour as well as the ones going round in the open top buses.
nice pics AD :PDT_Piratz_26:
Well I've woken up to some fab views this afternoon (the longest lie in I've had for years, alcohol induced).
Excellent :PDT11
Here you are, Kev.
