Haha, especially with this lot.

Terrified of Ghosts. Always have been. Its the Catholic in me. Cant watch Ghostie things either. However, I managed many sheltered schemes in my job and it was quite common for elderly people to tell me that they had been "visited" by dead relatives and, frequently, they would die shortly afterwards. What always struck me was they were NOT afraid and often described these visits as being very normal and often during the daytime.. No storms of dark spooky incidents. More often than not they would wake up or go into a room and see whoever it was just sitting in a chair. None of this transparent stuff. The last person who told me of one of these incidents was a very elderly lady I was very fond of. In her case, her long dead Sister was sitting on the bed as she woke up. She was not frightened by said to her "You should not be here". Her Sister told her "I have just come to keep you company". She told me she was not afraid of her in life so wasnt in death. It used to terrify me although a couple of brushes with Cancer have made me realise that its probably comforting for people to think there is someone they love waiting for them. I always noticed it was the person they cared about most who appeared. I dont know whether it was actual Ghosts of whether they wished to see them. Much as I loved my Mum and Dad, I dont want to see them!!! My Husband says he would like to so he could tease them about Everton doing so well lately!
I do beleive that our loved ones will come to us , when it's our time ..
Thank you for this comforting post Partsky ..
I've got very close people who I know would come to me - - one in particular who, when we would discuss if there's an afterlife, would say that they would send some sort of sign - - - and I'm still waiting.
Our house is the hub of our family for 5 generations, and two died at home here - so ours is the place where any ghosty family members would visit ! - - but not a sign of them
I was particularly close to my grandmother- - no sign of her !
I can't say what happens after death, but I don't believe in visitations and suchlike. It's all in the imagination. There will always be a rational explaination for so called apparitions.
That's right Lindy.
Notice it's always "a sign" rather than...a conversation! Mystics play with people's gullibility, for their own profit, and reframe things that they know people want to hear. It's all in the imagination, and stories like these on this and other threads deserve their title as Woo.
Woo, or Woo woo - "refers to ideas considered irrational or based on extremely flimsy evidence or that appeal to mysterious occult forces or powers", from the Sceptic's dictionary.
My father told me that if there was an afterlife he would let me know. He did. I didnt actually see him, but I have felt him touch my face, this was at a show at the Neptune theatre, where there where mediums on stage. Also A transfiguration medium has shown me his face, she named him by his first name. He passed messages on through her, who no one would have any knowledge of, except me and my father.
Cant drink anymore, dont know why, just gone off it, and get the most awful heartburn if I do attempt a drink, so I keep well alone, and stick to tea and coffee.
I got given 4 bottles of wine and a bottle of Baileys as Christmas Presents, and ended up giving them away. lol.
wonder what's happened to my lot then !!? who also promised they would let me know about the afterlife.
I went with my aunty to the Neptune theatre many years ago, to see mediums on stage - my aunt's eldest son had been murdered and she was vulnerable and desperate for some comfort.
... of course we got no sign or no message from my dead cousin.
This kind of thing feeds off peoples' grief and vulnerability. Only gullible people and the easliy influenced believe it.
I went to the Neptune with my better half, i'm a sceptic prepared to be swayed but nothing doing there. It was Billy Roberts, hosted by Russell Grant, it was being filmed as a pilot tv show which didn't come off. They even proposed to have a horse on stage with an injury and a phsycic was going to find it, the horse wouldn't come out of the lift so they had to abandon that idea. My missus and her mate have been given encouraging readings, stuff only they could know so I don't disbelieve there is something in it, she's also been told she is slightly phsycic. I might just be one of those people who will never see anything.
As for heartburn when drinking, have yous been checked out for a haitus hernia?
Hey Ged, I went to that also, this guy from GLADIATORS was sat next to us on the back row, then he got up, remember? Do you remember them 2 women getting up and they gave them some `pins` off the lifeboats off The Titanic? I think the show was rather poor, and was laughing my head off, when they said the horse wouldnt get into the lift. That was a few years back wasnt it?
If your not easily scared lindylou, try and get to see Maureen Graham, she is a transfiguration medium. I used to have her number when she lived in Liverpool, so not sure if she still does it now, as she has moved back to my area and has had a child since. But I have never experienced anything like it atall. Her face doesnt actually change, a blackness falls over her face, then you see images in FRONT of her face, which are similar to a negative. Different faces come on and then metamorphasise into another face. I saw my dad and sister in law. My daughter saw her nan, and everyone who attended saw their loved ones and came out so shocked. Some were in tears.
Now if that's true, something tangible that I can see for myself, then i'd go to that.
Yes linda, I remember the titanic artefacts bit and was going to mention that, I mean the way she said, 'oh I can feel a drowning sensation' - after being told it was from the Titanic - doh. The fella, Tommy from the group Space was there in the front row too.
As I say Ged, Not sure if she is still doing it, but will try and find out, if so will let you know. My friend had her to her house a couple of years ago, now this friend of mine lost her brother who was killed on the M62. Maureen didnt know of any of this, as my friend lives in Widnes, but she actually told her all about the accident and about him being hit by numerous cars, and unfortunetly that his head was decapitated. Also my friend had, at the time just lost a twin boy, the other survived, up until 1 yr ago. Anyhow she told her, all about her little boy, who had died and what complications he had. No one knew the full extent of his problems, even I didnt know everything, but it turned out, the poor thing didnt have all his brain. This Maureen picked up on also. When I walked in, she told me Joan had walked in beside me, now, she didnt know that I had a sister in law called Joan who had died, and this really upset me. Of course she could have just guessed at a name, but I find that hard to believe, she should hit the nail on the head with a name like that.
Sounds fascinating. I bet she charges a good wack though, and this is what makes me sceptical. If those negative images appear before her face though, i'd pay to see that.
Last time I saw her, I think she charged either £20 or £25 , she will come to the house, but think she has to have a certain amount of people there, like minimum of 6 or something. I have seen lots of scary stuff in the past, but this was the scariest thing I had ever saw. The first time I ever saw her, I was a none believer, in fact I would say it was because of her, that my interest in the paranormal first began. Also , a few years before I saw her, my ex used to knock about with his cousin and this woman was at my ex`s aunties, doing readings, well my ex, who at the time was about 17 was laughing with his cousin at her. She turned around and said," Dont make fun of me, You dont believe me do you? Well tonight you will break your leg," That night my ex went to Manchester and started argueing with his cousin this lead to them fighting and he went to kick him, but missed and kicked the car instead, and broke his leg!!!! So I dont know if it was a premonition that she predicted or whether it was a curse.
I take it that's 25 smackeroos each - so £150. Still, if she does have those powers....
You see, if I could do that, I don't know if i'd charge - hmmm, have to think about it.
I do have an interest in the paranormal although i'm sceptical, my interest is that if I search long enough, I might find something believable. Do you think a person with these powers would just pack up doing it?
She was brought up around near where I live, then she moved to the town centre, she iis well known in my area, as being a bit spooky. lol. anyhow someone mentioned her to me not long ago and said they thought she had packed it all in, as she now had a baby, but to be truthful, if I was earning that sort of money, I would deffo get a babysitter. Anyhow Ged, my paranormal group is always looking for new members, if your interested let me know by pm. I will give you details of the meetings. We have a good investigation coming up in March. Bacup Theatre, its a fab little old theatre, we have done it before, and last time, me and 2 others had our chairs pulled out from under us. I also have a pic taken there, where there is a shadowy figure in the balcony.
Oh and forgot to mention, a ghostly person sat in one of the seats too.
Here's one for you - I've just posted it then found your request for stories ... also I have seen and heard several ghosts from the late 1980's up to around 2002 when I seemed particularly psychically aware of these things. My first was a legless monk who I saw gliding along the pavement just before the flyover on Queen's Drive near Broadgreen. It was about 5.30pm and I was driving home from work in Netherley heading for Waterloo. There was lots of traffic and there was a tailback and I had my eye on the road but could see to the left of me a monk in a brown habit heading towards Childwall Fiveways. I'm not sure but I think there was a school there because I also remember iron railings in the background as he was gliding past them. He had his hood up and his arms were folded inside his sleeves and there was a rope around his waist. At first I just thought, "Wow! I haven't seen a monk dressed like that since I was in primary school and the missionaries came to talk to us." I took my eyes off the road for a second look and just registered that something wasn't quite right about the monk but then I had to quickly pay attention to the road ahead again. Then it registered that the monk was gliding along, not walking, and that below the knee he just disappeared, no legs, no feet were visible, yet above the knee he looked as solid as I did. I can tell you I gripped my steering wheel so tight I thought my knuckles would break, the hair on the back of my neck stood up and as the monk got level with my car I sort of watched him out of the corner of my eye, too afraid to turn my head. I saw him glide past and I looked in my rear view mirror and he wasn't there, which amazed me because he certainly wasn't a misty phantom, he was solid from head to knee, but below the knee there was just nothing. After he passed, the tailback suddenly started shifting quickly forward and I should have got done for speeding that day because I drove home like a bat out of hell. All the way home I was saying to myself "You've just seen a ghost! You have just - seen - a - ghost!" When I got home I was speechless and I don't drink alcohol but I poured myself a glass of wine and gulped it down. My husband walked into the room and stared at me and said "What's wrong with you? You look as if you've just seen a ghost!" All I could say at the time was "I have." Amongst other experiences around that time, the one below was another very vivid sighting.
Ghosts and Timeslips ...
... has anyone ever had a strange experience in Bold Street, Liverpool? Several years ago I was coming out of the exit from Central Station that leads directly into Bold Street and I thought I'd walked into a film set! There were cobblestones and horses and carriages and people dressed in bonnets and long dresses. I'm not sure what period it was but they looked like the people on the Quality Street tin. I was totally disorientated for a few seconds because in my mind I was just going to cross Bold Street and into Waterstones but suddenly all these horses and carriages and people were in the way. First thing I thought was "They're shooting a film and I've walked onto the set, silly me." But as soon as I'd told myself that, everything was back to normal, present day and I was left scratching my head as to what had happened. I definitely needed a cuppa before I did anything else and I think I sat in Cafe 53 for about an hour trying to work out what on earth I'd just experienced. Has anyone else had a similar experience there or can throw any light on what it all means.
Is that you Tom?
A ghost Monk 'walking' on Queens Drive by the Fiveways?
The whole area between Fiveways past the Flyover was excavated for Queens Drive so that area isn't at the same level of the fields that once stood there. If this monk was appearing on this road then he must have passed away recently because the floor level of what we have now and what we had then is about 6ft difference so he would have been floating 6ft above the ground if he was walking on the original field level.
Silly Cad... he wasn't by the Fiveways he was by Broadgreen before the flyover. How BernadetteG knew he was going to the Fiveways is another matter altogether... my bet he was on for a pint... or maybe some spirits. :P
As for the Bold Street time slips... I suggest it happened because you are
a) slightly gullible and open to suggestion
b) mental
c) Shamelessly ripping off one of Tom Slemen's stories
d) Tom Slemen in disguise
If you are genuine Bernadette then I apologise for being rude, I mean no personal insult it's just I find it hard to believe that you've experienced a time slip on Bold Street and came HERE to ask if it's happened before.
