I agree. I think there should be a pre 1930s Corporation dwellings thread for the likes of Northumberland st. I have quite a few pics of these type including Bevington st, Eldon Grove, Holly street and Saltney st and the like. The fore-runners to the tennies that are previously focused upon.
Here are some pics of Ged's excellent model:

Hello all, please be gentle with a forum virgin:)
I've been looking at www.itnsource.com at some old Pathe films of Liverpool - found a really intriguing one from I think 1972 - colour footage of a kind of angular U-shaped block of flats or tenements with a smaller block in the centre. It seems to be across the road in a SW direction from Myrtle Gardens, but much smaller, obviously - does anyone have any idea what it was called?
There are some great bits of film on there btw
Hello Melangell.
That link doesn't direct us to the actual block you were looking at but at a guess it may be Myrtle House which also contained Almond House which were the blocks across the road from Myrtle Gardens. See these below taking by Brian Saville.
Great pics by the way Kev.Thanks, and to you Gerard for the comments. That exhibition was why I didn't get down to yours at the weekend mate, it was so good I was there yesterday too, see you next weekend.
Doh! Sorry about that! i will find the actual link to the film clip and pop it on....it seems to be just off the second pic , closer to the camera.

There, I think that's it - it's the block with the washing hanging out and lots of people on the balconies?
Those blocks are part of the developments that were further East than Myrtle Gardens. There were lots of blocks in the Mason street, Smithdown Lane, Grinfield Street, Overbury street and Sidney Place such as Paddington House and Sidney House. These are just some of them.
When you watch that footage it makes you realise how much has improved.
Liverpool looks a lot better now.
I was visiting the Falkner estate, Entwistle Heights and Myrtle House on a regular basis form 1972 until 1980s. I had friends and family there.
- those flats were grim by then  That film is just how I remember it.
Its the block next to the old St Nathaniel Church. The block you seem to be refering to is to the left of the church in the below link.
http://www.toxteth.net/places/liverp...0nathaniel.htm
You can see the church and the flats on the film at 1.30 on the footage
New Social Housing it says.
Looks like a 30s tenement block to me......

I do like that Pathe Review, very interesting to see movies instead of flat photos sometime. Thank you so much.:handclap:
:handclap: The pathe review was good, but I thought the photo's excellent, and so many of them very clear , Thank you so much for sending them, right up my street ! I knew there was a good reason that I joined up here.
Ellyjo.
PS. Brilliant forum by the way.
Hi everyone, I have just been looking at some pic's of luke street, and wondered if anyone might have some of the three little houses there, don't know if they are still there now, they were numbered 4, 6, and 8, i'm just interested because we were the first tenants there, and I spent a few of my teenage years in number 8, not all happy memories, but memories just the same, I never thought of taking photo's at the time, but I feel a little bit nostalgic and homesick sometimes, thanks to anyone who can help,
