Thanks Robbo great pics!
I drive past there a few times a week!
My dad used to be in IRWINS many years ago , i think its now the upholstery shop just over the road in Westminister Rd and he said that there was a a firemans pole in the shop , so i dont know whether this was an overflow accommodation for the fire station.

Rob

Somebody may have already photographed this Liver Bird but if they haven't they should, and use their God-like zoom better than the zoom on my Samsung. It's on Mersey Chambers on Chapel Street behind St. Nicholas churchyard. . .

Thanks Chris :PDT11
Here's another. I believe I photographed this on Water Street right across the street from the Town Hall.

This coat of arms in on the former Manchester and Liverpool District Bank and it's one of the rare times you see Manchester's and Liverpool's coat of arms alongside each other (also to be seen on the former Exchange Station). Seperating the two is a sovereign of Queen Victoria.
Just next door at No.1 Water Street is another Liver bird, standing almost upright with a very human stance. He's in gold and this used to be the offices of the Liverpool Building Society. I'll try and post a photo if I can work out how to!
Julie
Thanks for the info :PDT11
Looks like you can only post photos if they're on a website so I won't be able to post the golden liver bird.
Sorry.
Sorry, that doesn't have seem to have worked.
If anyone wants to see it, it's at:
http://www.geocities.com/liverpool08...verbirdone.htm
Just to add, also on that site is my favourite Liver Bird. Ever wondered what he does on his day off? He and his mate let their hair down and dance to the sound of cherubs playing the horn and cymbols. I think they're so cute!
They're from the former Leyland and Bullins Bank on Castle Street - now RBS.
Julie
Success!
Just need to master inserting them into the main text now.
Will attach some more to this mail
Julie
Excellent, Julie!
Chris
Sorry - they didn't upload for some reason. Will try again later.
Can anyone help me ??? I'm trying to get hold of an A4 size copy of the Coat of Arms as used on the Corpy trams and buses. But no success so far. It needs to be A4 so that I can get Vinyl Copies made for whoever wants them.
I tried the Mereyside Transport Trust. But no luck. Also The Crich Tramway Museum , same result. The best so far was a nice young Lass from the City Library who managed to send me an A3 size, but as she had already enlarged it , it wasn't any good for copying as the detail was'nt good enough
You say you tried the Merseyside Transport Trust but have you conferred with forum member MerseysideTransportTrust who uses the Coat of Arms as their logo and may be able to supply it in the size you want or could tell you where to get it? Another suggestion that occurs to me is that maybe you could shoot it yourself off the side of the bus that was on display for the Lord Mayor's Parade at St. George's Hall and have it blown up to the size you want.
Chris
Finally managed to attach some more Livers. Think the files were too big but working now I've shrunk them. Still haven't worked out how to get them into the body of the mail though.
Anyway, enjoy - more to follow
Julie
And some more....

Hello customhouse
This isn't the first time you have asked about this. In fact, I gave you some advice about it a week ago. I am sorry to hear you still have not found what you need. Perhaps someone else can help you. Good luck, John.
Chris
If you're in Liverpool.
Try the offices in Hatton Garden or the Central Library.
Interesting variation on the Liver bird. In this case as a hanging lamp holder
Hi Taffy
Do you know if those birds are definitely supposed to be Liver Birds? They look more like cranes to me. Compare this image of sculpted cranes with what you show in your photo.
Chris
I don't thnk they're supposed to be Liver Birds simply because there's nothing in the beaks.
Thanks for the photo, because I've got a lampshade like that.
Mine is Edwardian, and made by Holophane, and was rescued from Irwins in Southport when they converted into a Tesco 'self-service' shop in 1961.
