If it wasn't for the Wirral Liverpool wouldn't be what it is today. WHS and preserving views IMO had nothing to do with this scheme being rejected, the fact that ruth kelly made the decision was the reason alone. Her adviser told her to give it the go ahead but she is just anti-tall. Look at what she's up to in London, it's pathetically backward.
London don't want no tall building rivals. :mad:
They have this 1002 feet tower approved to be finished by 2010.

.....and from The Echo yesterday:
Quote:
A SKYSCRAPER planned for Liverpool's waterfront will be reduced from 37 to 30 storeys, following scathing criticism in a report by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE). more
That's a result Kev because they originally suggested two stumpy towers,it will still come in at around 32/33 stories which will have a massive impact if it's approved.Quote:

V. Nice :handclap::handclap:
I took these last Week-End....couple of them make nice Wallpaper....
It's strange, I remember about 3 years back when we used to ride our bikes on the dockside around there, and Prince's Half-tide Dock was totally derelict and the place was just left. Now it's virtually unrecognisable! A shame in many ways, as some interesting features have been lost, but I suppose it's just part of the land's lifecycle.
Can anyone tell me where the Cockle Hole is?
I have seen a photo' of it but can't recognise it.
I agree. There's still some interesting stuff to explore a little further north from here, but I'm sure that'll be gobbled up in the end.
Here's a pre City Lofts and Unity pic taken about three years ago. A few more over here

I remember visiting Princess Dock as a kid. They had a museum there in one of the large warehouses. Sunday was the first time I’ve walked that far down and I was blown away by the development there. The view reminded me of Toronto. Its strange really as I’ve seen the construction many times from the road side and from Wirral but there was just something different about it from this angle. Maybe it was the reflections. I can’t wait for the buildings to be finished, it should look fantastic.
HDR from 3 RAW’s handheld // Camera: Canon 30D // ISO: 100 // Shutter Speed: 1/250 // Aperture: f5.6 // Focal Length: 10mm // Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6
That's special thanks Pete.:handclap:
