Found this old picture of Exchange Station, not very good' its a photo of a photo. can be found in the LRO

I don't know if this has been put on the forum befor,but reading some of the posts set me thinking about the pier head and the two blokes whe tied there mate in a sack and the rapped thhim in chains,then whent round with the hat while his mate escaped.Idont know if it was the same two that smashed concrete slabs on there chest,then lade another slab on his chest and his mate asked people in the crowd(and they got a large crowd 40 or 50 strong)to break it.the good old days.

I've heard about this. Older family members have told me about it.

As a kid I saw that. They did it on the waste ground opposite TJ Hughes - I think on the corner of Norton St/London Rd.

It's probable they did it all over the place,I remember they where allway
two sheets to the wind.

This book which I have signed by the author Jim Elliott is all about the escapologist, it was his pa in law.

Edwardo, there is a good book by Jim Elliott, (Once Upon A Time in liverpool)

Jim Elliott tells the story of his childhood in Liverpool. The man in the sack was his stepfather, a fascinating tale.

Ged. Do you remember the fella' who used to lift a huge cartwheel above is head on the waste ground by 'Greaty market' (pre Wallasey Tunnel days)
Just behind the Brown Cow pub corner of Fox Street.
He was built like an ox, he had red hair and used to go round the crowd with a whip and challange any man to lift the wheel.

Samp.Yes when my boat comes in I'll get the book,the picture on the front cover was done to draw the crowd,he used to do the same thing with an old sword(as if he was going to swollow it).
