The clinic, 'the seamans dispensary' was in Cleveland Square it only became an STD clinic in the late 60s.

Why were toilets only provided for Gents in the old days, but nowadays there always queues for the Ladies?

In the early days it was not 'Lady Like' to use public toilets nor was it 'Lady Like' to be seen drinking in public houses, hence the lack of need for 'Ladies Conveniences'........... a different image of today,

I found this in the Liverpool 800 book. It's a medical card given out to Swedish seamen just as they arrived in Liverpool. I feel a bit ichy now....:(

It's a lesser known natural history fact, that there were more crabs at Cleveland Square, than around the rocks of New Brighton's lighthouse.
