Thanks, Lindylou. You're a genius! My great aunt Mary McDaniel (or Mary Kate as she was known) is the lady on the left. She was the landlady of the Britannia (13 Scotland Road) between 1950 and 1960. Her sister, Rose, standing next to her, was a psychiatric nurse (later social worker) by day but would sometimes help behind the bar in the evening - often dealing with the same clientele I gather. My mum said that she has a photo of the exterior of the Britannia somewhere. If I can find it I'll upload it here - or at least I'll try...
The Belgrave on Bryanston Road is all boarded up. I expect it has been closed since the shooting. I've only just noticed though.

the belgrave closed after a fatal shooting in the area some time ago, i remember this hotel in the early sixties when it was a really nice place to go to, to visit friends and relatives, sit in comfort and enjoy the evening. what happened ? the students arrived from the local campus, they commandeered the place with their halves of lager and would sit there all night spending nothing and taking up seats, in other words a real pain. since then unfortunately the pub has had a lot of bad times with more than unsavoury customers in attendance and then finally closed after the shooting down there. i agree with mike68 this pub is best it has ever been now that the shutters are up . sad. but fact"

When did the Stanley close ?
It's still open Marty,............. mind you, most of the pubs in the area only open properly on match days! :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
Good snaps of The Albert, Joe. It was my local for a while in the late 70s. I was in there last year and it gets as many quirky customers as ever.
Some good looking pubs

There's a planning notice on the latest council list to demolish the Gardener's Arms in Broadgreeen!
I know it's been open and shut more times than a tart's legs but demolition? Is it that bad a pub now or structurally unsafe?
Hi All, anyone know the name and nickname of the pub that was in the corner of Harrington Gardens on Mill Street, the opposite end from the Weathercock
I'll find you that info I think unless somebody wants to beat me to it.
Not much luck, the Florrie looks lovely though...

It's been discussed to death and we still can't get the answer, I'm too young to remember it being open and I think it was closed as long ago as the late 70's or early 80's
Obviously not, what video?
Apologies, I have seen that video before but it's not on it. The pub I'm talking about was probably derelict around 30-35 years ago and would be about 25 feet behind the photographer in the first picture, on the right.
