Webster Road for a few weeks
Parkhill Road -Dingle
St Malachys - Park Street
St John Almonds - Garston
Then I went to Bellerive FCJ...which used to be St Mary's... - Ullett Road
Yet you never went there when it was up :unibrow:
You didn't start WHAT? :)
Its a shame they have to pull schools down, even worse that they do nothing with the land.
I went to Upper Park Street in the Dingle as a kid and I always said that next time when I went back home I'd go back there and visit the place again, but I always put it off and then finally when I did go I found that they'd knocked it down just a few months before.
my schools Webster Rd ,Dove St & Tiber St all have been demolished & I only found out when I went to take photos of them
also all the houses I've ever lived in have also been demolished so I can never take my kids there & say I lived there or I went to that school
maybe I'm a jinx
2 of my schools have been pulled down. Maybe its a sign of getting old...lol

Hi, Mandy, Sad all your schools have been knocked down. None of mine have, my first school, Star Lane, London, my niece goes to ( i went there 1970). My scond school, Abbotsford, Glasgow, my grandad went to in the 1920's. My 3rd school, Adelphi, Glasgow, my dad went to in the 1950's and Eastlea, London, my son went to as will my neice. Abbotsford is now flats and Adelphi a centre of some sort.
Being a younger member, mine are still up too :PDT10
Its got nothing to do with being a "younger member", in the olden days they built things to last :PDT10
Ha ha, I asked for that didn't I.
I don't ever remember needing to shave at such a young age, it's funny how the mists of time cloud things over.
hi ged,
just got your 2nd book, where you mention your school,st.Greg's,and various teachers, specifically mr.Crowley, who's son i went to school with!Your image of him with the cane, and keys,in reception, was pretty terrifying, but he always seemed a nice enough guy, when i was at thier house, and i always thought it was amusing that his son couldn't tell the time:unibrow: i went to the youth club a couple of times,(about '67,'68) but dont remember anyone's names, except pat gandy, for some reason, and a guy who's nickname was"beaky"! One memory i do have, is of the the girls in the youth club screaming in horror, when Robin Gibb,of the Bee Gees, started singing "massachusets" on "Top of the Pops", every time it was on:eek: In the book, you mention that mr.Crowley had a brother/clone? Was this really his brother? I also remember the rover car well! Great book, must get volume 3.
steve.
Hiya wsteve55. Thanks for that. There was an Arthur Vincent Crowley and his younger bro. I only found out quite recently that Mr Crowley senior was apparently quite a rugby player in his day and played Rugby and won honours though i've not looked into it any further. His singing voice resounded all over the assembly hall - Christius Vinschit, Christius Renoit or something like that anyway - all latin to me.
One had a brown Rover, the other, the same model in white. They were alright really looking back, if you had little to do with them that is. I remember someone drawing mammary glands on the cover of my lyric book to Joseph & his technicolour dreamcoat which we were rehearsing and he spotted it. I got the cane for not snitching (it wasn't grassing then) on the little toerag that done it because I wouldn't snap my arrow bar in half. I later changed that porn into a face lol.
Where did they live, was it a leafy suburb, I always imagined so.
Thank you Drone Pilot for that. I forgot I was in the same class as Gerard and Ged. lol
Hi ged,
you're right about the leafy suburb, Crosby actually, where as far as i know, he still lives, though things may have changed, as it must be 8/9 yrs since i saw him, and his 74th birthday was coming up!?! His lad became a butcher!!:unibrow:
I went to Northway Primary/Juniors and Highfield Senior's or Broadgreen is it called now?
I Guess they were ok:PDT11

St Christophers - Speke
Blessed John Almond - Garston.
All Hallows - Speke.
North-East Liverpool Tech.
Think I did this a long time ago. I went to St. Patrick's for the totally bewildered.
Exactly my route also
Do you remember Mr Burns (Headmaster) and Bob Nolan (teacher) St Martins
He once told us each and everyone of you will either work on the Docks or at Camel Lairds.. Im Glad I proved how wrong he was.
Only ones I can really remember from St John's is Mr Collinson ( Frolly) and the Infamous Sister Gertrude and Sister Anne..... Gertie was one of the most sadistic people I have had the misfortune to come across in my life. constantly walked around with a cane under her habit.
She could use the cane better than Zoro could use his sword.
Five years behind me but spot on.
Collinson was known as Collywobbles - really nice man who struggled to deal with the rougher kids.
Gertie - my mum would never believe what a monster she was until my sister started work, as a nursery nurse, at the kids home Gertie also ran. Tales of violent abuse were common.
How about Mr McGarvey (head - lovely man who saw good in everyone), Mr Galea (Maths - another sadistic *******), Miss Dunn (English), Mr Slattery )Science - hard but fair), Mrs Ahmed (Art - like a young Elisabeth Taylor).
Couple of people in my class who I remember and were from Garston. Michael Axworthy (great footballer - went to Man U then Everton but don't think he got past the youth teams), Michale Powney (another good footballer), Imelda Longhurst, Frances Fanning. Names beginning to fade now - boy I'm feeling old!
My mother worked in St. Johns for a short while,(10 years ago or more) she was shocked by the attitude of some of the staff and never liked it there. Mine you Notre ****(sic) in Everton was not much better!
Oh yes I remember Miss Ahmed:) and
Sam Mcguinness, Nice man, Sex Education lesson " To Make a baby Think of it as a Triangle...God on top..Man and woman each side, when all joined together Babies can be made" here endeth the lesson how things have changed:) Sam frequents St Bernadettes social every weekend
I was only at St Johns for a short time before I went out into the real world
