Great pics GD
Nice Joe. How long is the focal length of the lens?
It`s a 75mm to 300mm lens , My children bought a Canon camera plus this lens about 2years ago but I have only used it a couple of times due to it`s size preferring to use my Lumix compact which I can attach to my belt, when I on my meanderings.
Theyhave since bought me a 50mm lens for it.
I have just found out, 300mm on a digital is the same as 487mm on a 35mm camera,and 50mm digital is 82mm on a 35mm camera.

Nice photos GD.
Pity the Echo Arena spoils the view of the cathedral.
Yep an IKEA looking shed. And many think it is wonderful - mainly because their favourite bang-your-head-against-the-wall band plays there An object lesson on how not to do it. See:

Fishing party going ashore at Monks Ferry slipway. The monks from the Birkenhead Priory operated their ferry from this area after recieving the rights from King Richard the third in 1330. They sold them later on and the last ferry left here in 1878

Scanned these off some old photos of days out fishing with my elder brother off the Alexandra dock wall by the entrance to the Gladstone dock.Thats me in the first pic and him in the second one.The dock board charged ?3 a year with us pensioners free, for a permit. I would cycle there from Kirkby and he would meet me there by car. We would have a flask of tea and some biscuits,he would always bring a hip flask of brandy which I drank because he was driving.
This was before the terrorists attacks, now if you want to fish there now you have to belong to a club and pre-book in groups of 10.
Great them Joe. I never knew you could get access down there, let alone fish down there.

This is one of my old colour slides of the Empress of Britain in the Gladstone graving dock. Just learned today she was scrapped in 2008 after a chequered career of about 5 changes of owners and names including between 2003 and 2008 the Peace Ship "Topaz".
