Ta for sharing the inside of QMary 2 and coming and going of such a wonderful liner... How brilliant !! Sad to see her leave to her resting place in Dubai (if I am correct).. England is her home..and for me, I think, she should of been a hotel there if anywhere... Beautiful pictures everyone.
Thank you for that Pablo.. I thought I was incorrect as no one seemed to complain about it... LOL... How lucky to book a cruise on such a wonderful liner... excellant news... ta again

Nice Pics , as usual Joe. I remember doing my driving test around that same area in 1949, there were quite a few horse-drawn vehicles around there then!!:PDT_Aliboronz_11:
Bye Bye Sir Alfred Jones Memorial Hospital Garston.
Excellent pic, Taffy.
I saw that this morning and thought what a shame. Dunno they couldn't have integrated at least the front of it into the new hospital
Agreed but there are too many vested interests involved in this new type of private hospital venture where the NHS lease back the building. See
http://www.lshp.co.uk/ and
http://www.assuragroup.co.uk/
All of which of course comes via the Government which says the NHS is safe in our hands
The company which has the contract for National Health Service buildings in Liverpool has just been fined ?8.3 million by the Office of Fair Trading for a practice known as cover pricing:

I, like many another Garston lad ,was a frequent out patient at Garston Hospital. It was small compared to Myrtle Street but nowhere as crowded.
It smelled strongly of disinfectant and was always spotlessly clean. In those days, the 50's ,the nurses wore starched bonnets and crisp white aprons, the nearest things to angels that a lad in Garston would ever see. I've been stitched and patched by the best and can't recall ever being treated by doctors ,it was truly cottage hospital. Will it be missed ? only the present inhabitants of Garston can answer that question,

Nice picture Taffy.
Good pic Taffy. I was christened in that church.
it was a long time ago too !!! :PDT_Aliboronz_24: :PDT10 :)
Thanks. It a beautiful church. I have always been surprised the William Brown of Richmond House didn't pay for the church's construction in 1847. See also
