Thanks for that Ged, my 10 year old grandson is doing an essay of his own choosing, ie, Florenc Nightingale & i took him down to see her monument ,he asked when it had been erected ,hence my enquirey, as it is very hard to park in that area i took a quick photo of him standing by it & we left without reading what was written on the sides, nelsbels
Until just now, I never really thought about it, but the Nelson Memorial is 1814.
I mean the ones in the streets, or on buildings.

I took a close up that momument last year...although not from the 'like he's sitting on the loo constipated' angle lol

there's some fantastic detail on there.
Sitting on the loo, constipated. :handclap:
I thought it was Despair. :PDT_Piratz_26:
It's beautiful work, though, and looks so modern.
Mary Who?
She was a black woman who did much the same as Florence N in the Crimea. She's commemorated by a street name off Lodge Lane.

It's right that she should be equally recognised.
It's just that I don't think I'm alone in not having heard of her.
On the other hand, everybody's heard of F N.
"Lady With the Lamp".
You're quite right Philip but that was their whole argument. Suppressed coverage or something. Media/historical bias. A cover up/Conspiracies.
Yes, she was by Alfred Waterhouse. I have a booklet I must post up on the Royal Infirmary thread though I think Snappel may have already done it actually.

Raphael`s statue outside the Walkers looks like he`s a candidate for the Conservation Centre to have some transplants done.
I wonder if anyone 'nose' if any plans to restore it are 'afoot' ?
Great photo:handclap:
lol ! :handclap:
I used to play on that (and his neighbour Micky Angelo) but it wasn't me who damaged it - honest. :ninja:
The statues either side of the door to SGH had big black stains down the front, and I was surprised that they managed to clean them.
The stone used on this side of W B St is very soft.
Look in front of the Sessions House.
Nope and I wasn't even a vandal either. Well, we needed somewhere to sneak behind during hide n' seek you know ;)
That's ko then :PDT11
ps. How did you find out :002:

Another vandal like Ged, climbing over the Kings Regiment statue in St John`s Gardens to have a go of the drum.
Your sidekick certainly earns his pocket money, GD. :handclap:

The building with the Sphinx is the Ashton Building I do believe. Opposite the Harold Cohen Library, and this last year had a massive refurb worth millions. It houses the Department of Computer Science now, and I *think* those rocket launchers are cooling for the servers.

This brought a smile to my face as I thought of "A dicky bird told me" and
"There`s a bluebird round my shoulder"
Cracking shot Joe...as ever.

And here`s the other book end on the building.
You must go through some shoe leather Quincy and Gregs dad.??
Brill photos as per usual.:handclap::handclap:
